A new set begins: Live performance by Kalli
A new set begins: Drawing comparisons to dark pop masters like Jeff Buckley and Bon Iver, Icelandic singer Kalli (aka Karl Henry) is releasing his 2nd solo effort in August, which he traveled to Nashville to record. Kalli, the former frontman for Without Gravity (formerly Tenderfoot, who played live on WFMU March 1, 2004), had always wanted to record in Nashville. He says, "Far from being traditional country songs I really wanted to mix them up with certain country music elements." The resulting work is a dreamy melding of dark folk and alt country. Kalli played live on Irene's WFMU show.
