Favoriting March 5, 2021: Lost Decade Radio: episode 1
On the ever of the Marathon storm and as March is my birthday month, this show will be a first of a few of old favorites that I heard as a kid that I STILL like. Warning: most of the selections will be slightly more 'classic oldies' than 'Crap', but trust me you WILL feel 'Crappy' after this nostalgic trip is done. Plus, I play as much Santa Monica regionalism as I can here.

I included It's a MMMM World is that I remember watching Jonathan Winters destroying that gas station on our little TV sets! I'm sure it looked awesome on that big-ass screen!

Hey Don! This is great. Me and my friends use to go to Pacific Ocean Park when it was a burnt down wreck ready to fall into the ocean.

I play this segment as I lived a few blacks from it....though by the time I was born, the damned place shut down and began to fall apart in public.

I recently watched IAMMMMW again. It's pretty amazing. I remember watching it as a very young kid and my mom pointing out every cameo in that film.

We loved P.O.P for exactly that reason. I took a lot of pictures of it in it's decrepitude. It's was the endless summer in Venice back then.
Avatar 6:14pm
Don-O:

My sister destroyed my copy of Jungle Book OST 'cos I played this track A LOT. Looking back, I kinda don't blame her! Oh, Van Dyke Parks arranged this track.

Phil Harris was the voice of Baloo the Bear, who I believe sang this song.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Franco Twinkie:

The Firesign Theater did a fake commercial for Magog Bros. Carpet Store at P.O.P. Phil Proctor is climbing around on a big pile of burnt crap. It's in Everything You Know Is Wrong.
  6:21pm
TheHipMen:

You better have a non-f'ed up version archive of this show
Avatar 6:21pm

I just noticed the Platterpuss logo. Remember the store on Lincoln Blvd? Their calendar had a painting by Neon Park of a woman in a bikini sitting by the swimming pool next to a big tarantula. I wish I still had mine.
