Delta dawn!!!
  6:17pm
Jett:

"Delta Dawn" I tend to prefer the Alex Harvey original. I'm also partial to the Tanya Tucker version which I believe Helen Reddy sort of copied.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
dale:

finally the station gets that some of these old songs are good and not garbage-y oldies. or else ken is just tuning out lately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
dale:

sensational alex harvey did that first?
  6:21pm
Gerry from Miami:

First time to your show, Therese. "Aces" so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
efd:

@dale = a different Alex Harvey, not the "Sensational" one. (Though I'm sure he was sensational in his own right.)
  6:23pm
Jett:

The american Alex Harvey, not the guy from Glasgow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

That's not confusing !
Yeah dale - those huge A.M. radio Hits that were omnipresent ! Made fun of them (we was kids, after all) - but they stayed on our minds ...& we sang them - even if in goofy voices with mocking words... Remove the overexposure - & ya kinda like the thing !! ...Not even a little bit of an analogy to Life Itself... Pointers going LowDown Blooz...
  6:28pm
Jett:

Willie Fulton's guitar work on The Pointer Sisters version of Wang Dang Doodle is exceptional.

I always loved the pic/sleeve of this Toyah single.

@dale: those videos are SOMETHING!
  6:46pm
Gerry from Miami:

TOYAH! The honorable Mrs. Robert Fripp! She and her hubby have been posting frequent videos of classic tunes. I get them from Google on their daily feed. Catch this couple if you can!

they aren't my bag. i wish he did his thing apart from her. but maybe she's the reason he does it at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm

but they're both great looking pensioners, for sure.
  6:50pm
Gerry from Miami:

@dale Are you a big King Crimson fan? Robert has been doing his thing with that band for over 50 years now! And the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame continues to ignore his lasting influence with their snub of prog rock in general.

  7:18pm
PJ:

@Jett: Neil lost his ranch and probably a good chunk of his wealth when he dumped his wife for Darryl Hannah. He's gotta make up for it somehow.
  7:19pm
Gerry from Miami:

They keep telling us that recording artists aren't able to make much of a living based solely on streaming royalties. Supposedly nobody is buying "records" anymore, be they vinyl, CD or even cassette. So enterprising artists like Mr. Young are issuing these humongous box sets. And as you said, Jett, they don't come cheap. But who is really buying them? The pop music fans of the world need to know!
  7:20pm
PJ:

@Jett: But seriously, everything Neil puts out nowadays is way overpriced, I wonder if he has any idea what things actually cost in the real world. "It's an LP, Michael, how much could it cost, a hundred dollars?"

Thank you! I was close! Six degrees of separation. Pat Irwin joined them around that time to fill out the touring band. Thanks for cool music today and congrats for being back in the studio πŸŽ™
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm
G:

A contributing factor is probably that these old acts have not been able to tour since early 2020. Time to monetize the back catalogue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
chresti:

@G, that's what I was thinking. Touring is their bread and butter.
  7:25pm
Gerry from Miami:

@G I also think that some opportunists are buying up these limited editions and reselling them on ebay and discogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
G:

No doubt, Gerry
  7:31pm
Gerry from Miami:

Quite a business, this rock and roll! Todd-a-Phonic-Todd had a very interesting phone interview with Tommy James on his show yesterday afternoon. He had a lot to say about the "thieving" Roulette Records company. Seems there is a TV drama coming soon about this era and the Mafia ties that went on.
