I'm weary Billy. I met his Mom in Memphis in 2002. She was our cab driver/concierge for a Memphis in May festival when we visited. And we came back to Memphis in May for 3 years and she took care of us. We formed a bond and i support her charity New Hope for You. I hooked up her son with a keyboard and music lessons. Its a beautiful relationship. She is 60 and a single Mom dealing with his brain tumors. I weary for the fact the trip ended with a "police brutality" event tonight at a McDonalds. We dealt with an aggressive young cop that did not follow protocol and really disrespected us and our rights. Me, him, and a white 21yr old that engineered our session were involved. I'm 50 and told them let me do all the talking and the white kid f'd up and opened his mouth, long story short.” And yesterday the emcee on the track J Logan emailed me to add his “report of the events” of that night

On Monday night, a couple friends and I got together to make some music and kick it. At the end of the night we left the studio to get some food. Everything but McDonalds was closed, and beside the McDonald’s was a place that sold marble and tile that was closed at the time. In the front was a sign that said “parking in rear,” so we thought it’d be cool to sit outside in the parking lot and eat our food before we drove back. No more than 5 or 10 minutes later, an undercover police officer approached us without identifying himself and caused a problem that eventually led to us having to leave. It was not illegal for us to be there, and the officer had no reason to approach us as we were just EATING.”

I'm very relieved to have found a peaceful solution to this incident. I spoke with the Captain of this patrolman who gave me his word he would consider re-training for his young officer in the way he identifies himself to the public and the protocol involved.
