Big hit on the UK charts when I moved to the UK in late 71. Ironic lyric about fast cars, given what happened a few years later.

I saw the American version. The best thing I can say is that Gretchen Moll is at least in the episodes even if not really given a character.

Harvey Keitel, Jonathan Murphy, Michael Imperioli, and Gretchen Mol.

Rick A:

Hi Therese and All,
I watched Life on Mars; it's great. The production design harkening to 1970s Manchester is very vivid. The American version is terrible. There is a sequel Ashes to Ashes with many of the same characters. It's also really compelling. Bowie's legacy was enhanced by these shows.

In the American version, he meets Jim Croce at a bar whom I like well enough though he is not the equivalent of Bolan.

That eighties snare drum is relentless! It's a big part of what drove us to buy records on SST and other small labels. The indie bands couldn't afford the "good" studios with the gated snare gadgets!
