That's definitely a cherry blossom tree, spodiodi. They're famous in this part of NJ.

@Krys: I hadn't planned to hear it: I took my (usually) annual vacation for the Sonic Protest festival. Unfortunately, loud renovation work started before 8am, Monday to Saturday

the cherry blossoms i'm used to seeing in san francisco are white and larger. i miss watching them blow up the street.

Glad I could provide a chuckle, Krys. In Hollywood terms it always made more sense to refer to a woman as an actor. Even "manning" sounds silly. Engineering? You do dial those levels in nicely!

Welcome and congratulations fred, I heard that statins also help prevent colorectal cancer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm

I'd prefer 'operating.'

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
spodiodi:

Krys O., there's a close-up of that same tree. (the petals on those flowers are much heartier and smaller). could very well be a cherry tree. i'll probably walk by it again at some point, and will investigate.

my pics are scattered around, as are my machines (more so than 'normal', atm)

i'd like to post pics of the white blossoms i know from sf (as well as another that i'm pretty sure i have of a plum tree in our back yard that has similar white blossoms, which have already all bloomed and blown off).

anyway, if i manage to
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm

we had a fake spring too, Kat. then zapped by The Chill. i think it's real this time though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
spodiodi:

( our chill is nothing like yours, admittedly )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
chresti:

fred, S&s led me to WFMU, inadvertently, when a playlist got stuck on repeat (which tended to happen on weekends, he was based in China, but started in Oakland in the late 90s)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
spodiodi:

are there any mimosas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
chresti:

we seem to be in the Spring to Summer and back season now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Krys O.:

Seeing lots of forsythia and daffodils. My parents had a mimosa tree back in the day. They also had pear trees, hazelnut, plum, and a cherry tree. This was in the mid 80s when they bought a house with a fantastic array of plants thanks to the previous owner. It was heaven for mom and dad who grew up on farms.

Nights are cold here in Jersey. Daytime temps are in the 50s for now. We had some freezing weather a few days ago. That's spring here in the mid-Atlantic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm

I did see a forsythia in bloom last week, snowdrops, a brave crocus or two.

That's like Winter in SoCal, Krys

In my garden today, rhubarb coming up, the garlic, and last years chard, parsley, and kale. Snow drops, grape hyacinth, and daffy's up and about. Weather has been up and down: 14C here 3 days ago, we're expecting 6 to 10 inches (15-25 cms) of snow Tuesday.

@chresti: Said coworker makes music with technology and animals (mosquitos, ants, pigeons, fishes). I don't think he played on WFMU, but he might have been on Nat Roe's show

I've never been west of the Mississippi. Went to Memphis and stood by the banks of the Mississippi River, but never further west. Always liked that old-timey demarcation.

fred, something for Neighbor's Noise, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Otis:

Thanks Krys O. and Irony B. (the super fly funky fresh DJ duo) for the afternoon mixes. We are off to the farmer's market in search of spices for a couscous potato carrot meal. Cheers all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
fred:

@Kat: not sure about bandcamp, he mostly does installations, not music on its own. But he does have a site: robinmeier.net
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Krys O.:

Cheers, Otis! I read that as parrot carrot. That's my faulty vision. :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Kat in Chicago:

Thanks, fred! Going to dig into this.

I miss Neighbors Noise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
Krys O.:

Thank you, fred. Will check it out.

I remember well when the mothership (before it was known as the mothership) got Record Without a Cover. If I recall, someone put Return of Durutti Column's sandpaper cover next to it.

Ha, Rich! Seems like those walls are prevalent in many record shops. Ooh, my cat Harvey just jumped in my lap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm

@Kat: He's also an academic at times, so there's the occasional research paper. This piece is a good example of the stretch (no animals though) robinmeier.net...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Krys O.:

@fred: Makes me think of Irene Moon to an extent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Rich in Washington:

being the budget-minded (and usually cash strapped) consumer I am, I have learned to sort of filter out the walls of used record stores but occasionally...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm

No real harm in asking though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
spodiodi:

haha Rich in Washington @225 XD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm

@Krys: I don't know if they met. I'd guess so, but I should ask him. (If/when I see him, Covid isn't over here)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm

@HyperDose: I guess Rich in Washington has to work on his hat game then
Avatar 2:44pm
HyperDose:

Love the Amoeba videos. Was going to do a deep dive one day until I saw how long they've been doing them for. It's like trying to get into a new show that has over 4 seasons...probably not gonna happen.
Avatar 2:45pm
HyperDose:

*Was not meant to be a slight against Rich's hat game (or lack thereof) 😋
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Krys O.:

Fabio used to follow me on the schedule in the early daze when I was on WFMU Fridays 9 to midnight. Met Genesis P-Orridge AND Gen Ken Montgomery when they were individually guests on Fabio's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
fred:

@Krys: A Jandek record I guess? (I hear there's some inventory). I ordered two boxes of Jandek records, but I decided to stop because he came within one record of my Ryuichi Sakamoto record tally, and reversing that would just be wrong
Avatar 2:49pm
HyperDose:

VERY excited for when things get into full swing again and the revolving door of guest performances comes back. Was not a member of the online community when that was happening previously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
Krys O.:

@fred: I've joked that I used to use Jandek albums as a desk blotter. We used to say that you could drop a needle anywhere on a Jandek album and it sounds exactly the same.

Here's a pic of me as a dj at WFMU taken completely by surprise by Jim Price back in 1987. I was 24.

@Krys: I once was introduced to a guy who said he played on the station in the Froeberg days. Cool guy, but he turned out to be Peter Missing and I had no idea who he was (though I had hear some Missing Foundation). I should have known, a moment that should have been humbling to me but hopefully wasn't to him, he rightfully dismissed me as inconsequential (I hope)
