	11:28pm Sam Segal: Those are some heavy paragraphs! I started Vol. 1 a couple of times over the years before finally getting hooked myself.

	11:29pm Sam Segal: A funny thing about Knausgaard is that he seems to really dislike when people go, "Oh you're from Norway? I love Norwegian Jazz." He's brought that up multiple times in the first two volumes.

	11:31pm Sam Segal: I really dig everything I've heard from Christian Wallumrød. His album "Kurzsam And Fulger" on Hubro is also a beauty.

	11:32pm doctorjazz: Not at all familiar with Wallumrad. Scandinavian jazz seems to have this static, meditative quality, from the small amount I've heard.

	11:34pm drowsy: I would guess that Sam has read Per Petterson's 'Out Stealing Horses' I have not seen the movie yet, but the book is good.
	11:35pm doctorjazz: this Shalabi is quite intense-if he's Scandinavian, just ignore what I said at 11:32.
	11:35pm drowsy: Sam is correct, I think Norway won't join the EU because they would have to give up their cowish dairy ways.
	11:37pm Sam Segal: I haven't read that Per Petterson book, but now you've got me curious, Drowsy. Reading Knausgaard has gotten more more interested in Scandinavian literature. I'm going to take a break between Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 of My Struggle to read a novel by Dag Solstad, who I just found out about. Have you ever read anything by him?

	11:43pm Sam Segal: Doc, I was going to bring up Han Bennik to poke a hole in your thesis, but it turns out that the Netherlands are not technically part of Scandinavia.
	11:44pm Sam Segal: Haha, yeah I think the "biographical novel" is sort of like a memoir where you have the freedom to make more stuff up.
	11:45pm doctorjazz: I do love Bennik (got to see him a few times with the Willem Breuker Kollektief. He left his drum set once, went table to table with his sticks, played tables, chairs, glasses at the audience's tables. He was a trip!
	11:48pm doctorjazz: Tord Gustavsen has groups that are very meditative, that's where that impression comes from.

I'm going to take a break between Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 of My Struggle to read a novel by Dag Solstad, who I just found out about. Have you ever read anything by him?

	11:44pm Sam Segal: Haha, yeah I think the "biographical novel" is sort of like a memoir where you have the freedom to make more stuff up.
	11:45pm doctorjazz: I do love Bennik (got to see him a few times with the Willem Breuker Kollektief. He left his drum set once, went table to table with his sticks, played tables, chairs, glasses at the audience's tables. He was a trip!
