Ordnance Survey the British mapping and surveying dept., which also of course renamed everything into English. Were in Ireland in the early-mid-1800s. See Brian Friel's play Translations.

I have a Sony Walkman, but the catch is that it's a Sony MP3 Walkman from... like... 2009 or something. And its FM receiver is very nice. Listen to 91.1 on it a lot.

I feel I would miss so much overheard street conversation, bird songs, distant industrial drones, etc, if I wore headphones outside of the house. But at home I love 'em.

I have a woodsy railtrail starts literally out my door. Feel I should Listen out there too ...but there's so much to catch up now - & it's just how I'm wired.

I listen to FMU or podcasts while walking in NYC because it's so damn noisy and there are so many loud cars driving by. But if I'm somewhere quieter (Green-Wood, Prospect Park, hiking e.g. in Harriman State Park), I take out the earbuds.

Of course, I wear open-backed 'phones when walking, so the brooks, wind, birdsong, rustling trees, they're all right there with the music.

I usually walk/hike in the woods…depends on the mood, I usually listen to music for half the time, and shut it off when I just want to hear nature. And I agree with the no-music in the city at night rule.

Thanks Olivia for a beautiful show this grey afternoon.. The dreamy aspects really connected to the physical atmosphere outside the windows. So much music I have never heard, which is fascinating! Take good care and will see you again soon!

Home's been for streaming - which means FMU for the greater part - & Commutes were for Podcasts. But ! ...Barely any Commutes in Theses Times...
Over the ear Bose wireless headphones. Noise Cancelling is a very interesting option !
