	10:25am WR: While looking for this music online I find: "Reog Ponorogo is an old performing art that has survived the onslaught of times and has artistic values and noble values originating from the North-West area of East Java Province, namely Ponorogo. The word “reog” itself comes from the word “riyokun” which means husnul khotimah (good ending). The Reog dance, which is famous for its Singo Barong (A Creature that looks like a Lion), is considered still thick with mysticism and other mystical things. I got into gospel when living in Austin. There was a wonderful AM station, appropriately named KFIT. Used to go to a lot of gospel shows. You never saw so many jewel-toned suits in your life. Spectacular hats, too.

	11:58am prguitar: I agree with you Doug, concerning Jan Garbarek. There was an edge beyond what would be called The ECM sound. Closer to the beginning of the label, there were many recordings that you couldn't necessarily stamp with a particular sound. According to Bill Connors, who recorded for the label early on, solo and in collaboration with other ECM artists, Manfred Eicher was tremendously fond of the Blue Note Records concept.. One, or two studios recording everything so that every recording had a similar sonic footprint, label artists playing together on each other's recordings.. a very consistent look to the artwork. Successful marketing to be sure. Definitely in a different space musically compared to Windham Hill. Perhaps a continuing dialogue, as the hour grows late. Thanks for the super show this morning, plus thanks for your always kind welcome! It's a delight to be here with you! I'm sure we'll cross paths in person one of these days my friend!!

	11:58am prguitar: I agree with you Doug, concerning Jan Garbarek. There was an edge beyond what would be called The ECM sound. Closer to the beginning of the label, there were many recordings that you couldn't necessarily stamp with a particular sound. According to Bill Connors, who recorded for the label early on, solo and in collaboration with other ECM artists, Manfred Eicher was tremendously fond of the Blue Note Records concept.. One, or two studios recording everything so that every recording had a similar sonic footprint, label artists playing together on each other's recordings.. a very consistent look to the artwork.
