ONJ had that definitive girlish Soprano voice. Technically actually really precise & even strong with good lungs - tho' the high register makes people think otherwise. An archetypal kind of Pop voice. Sometimes her versions of a song seemed performative & lacked affectation by comparison - but otherwise I'm often surprised by how expressive - & certainly sensual she was. Which surprises no one. :)

I was thinking that since so many of our favorite performers are passing away with alarming frequency that a good show for FMU would be a regularly-scheduled tribute show once a month. G'Day, Scottso! πŸ‘ŠπŸ˜ŽπŸ»
Sorry we have to meet again under such a somber occasion. I'm sure she meant a lot to some folks you know over there.

Lot of Xanadu talk on Olivia's ravioli chat board yesterday.

Ken, we actually think Bagpipe does get a little carsick, but we give him a couple of Benadryl, which seems to deal with the worst of it. But he never sleeps in the car, just stares out the window and often pants.

Thanks for this, Julie. We should all bring so much happiness, and receive such a joyous farewell.

Was selling records in '80, too, when Xanadu and, so it seems, many over-produced spectacles were marketed, and much to my chagrin. I really appreciate the perspective of decades through which to hear them again. I mean Alan Parsons, War of the Worlds, Meat Loaf... Then they were fun but negligible. Now I like that I can listen through the overblown production to hear what at least some of those artists were trying to produce.

I just realized that my wife brought to our domestic combination a copy of Grease. I'll play it tonight. (My quibble is with Travolta.)

And it' s amazing the many genres she covered throughout her musical career.

You know, I was just reminded of a weird moment of synchronicity in 1981: The day I first heard "Heart Attack" on the radio was the day that my mother got the news about the death of one of our distant relatives. Take one guess what the cause of death was.

Thanks, Julie!
