Well NZ only a 3 hour flight so pretty close by our standards.
Loads of Kiwis in Australia and Pacific Islanders in both places so there's a lot of overlap.

NZ was wonderful. We stayed for three weeks in a private bungalow on a private beach. I went fishing everyday!

Oh, I was eating like King Henry the 8th.... Prawns, Crabs, you name it. It was heaven!!! The best vacation I've ever had... My wife hated it (being a Tokyo girl and all).

The closest "town" (it had one gas station) it was 40 minutes drive on a dirt road most of the way

Matakana was the name of the town. They even had a convenience store. That was the first place in my life I felt what it was like to have people speaking to me in English and I couldn't understand a single word of what they were saying!
