I hope to be awake at the top of the hour myself.

Yes, I believe the caffeine is working.

ah! Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra. They do a nice version of a certain piece by Edvard Grieg too...

The show photo reminds me that for a while, I was cycling along the canals in Phoenix, and would take photos of all the shopping carts overturned in the canal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Kwaak kwaak! There's PK.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:11pm

Hey PK!

Hallo Jan! Hey Feldy! Hi MHLee!

Ooh, tuned in just in time for a low-rent lounge ABBA medley. Happy Monday, all!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Mr Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Both this kinderkoor and the Abba Medley, easily could have been out of Darryl's purgatory of hellish tunes...
Avatar 12:16pm
Mr Fab:

Phoenix has canals, Feldy? Are they anything like the LA "River"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Goedemiddag, Mr. Fab!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
Jan Turkenburg:

well, at least this is hard to fall asleep to.
Avatar 12:22pm
Mr Fab:

That looks rather rude, PK, but I trust that is a friendly greeting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Feldy:

LOL @Fab amazingly these have water (at least at the time of this writing)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm

I just said good afternoon, Mr. Fab.

Hi, Feld ! Welcome to Holland.
Avatar 12:36pm
Mr Fab:

Lothar and the Hand People: Theremin-rock! A genre we need much more of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Feldy:

I enjoy visiting Holland several times a week. It pacifies me until I get to return to visit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

just a reminder that Holland is only a tiny part of The Netherlands.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
WR:

And greetings also to MHLee, if you are still reading.

I just recently, with the assistance and prodding of my adult son, properly disposed of two large CRT monitors, an old flat screen TV, several computers and laptops and assorted audio components (3 turntables! and more). The disposal folks jokingly questioned if it was really personal stuff or if it was from a company. I replied it was just 20 years of accumulation and they accurately pointed out that some of it was obviously vintage older than 20 years. I replied that I should have thrown it out 20 years ago...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Feldy:

Absolutely right @PK! And I've only been to Amsterdam (twice). Next trip I want to take in Zwolle
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, we'll have a drink in my fav pub together, Adam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Feldy: Some more city trip- tips since everything in The Netherlands is 'close' compared to travels in the US:
Nijmegen, Groningen, 's Hertogenbosch, Utrecht and Rotterdam. Maastricht too. This one may be the furthest away of the tips but is also worth seeing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Feldy:

That's my goal, Jan! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Feldy:

Thanks @PK. Adding to my list. I want to do some cycling while there as well
  12:48pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

Hi Jan. I must get over the North Sea to my favourite European country again , next year. Busy year so far and never made that visit to Amsterdam that I had in mind! :-(
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Dave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Feldy: Nijmegen and Maastricht are the only two cities mentioned where it actually *isn't* flat. The rest is flatter than flat. So easy to cycle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Feldy:

I love the old saying that you can stand on a chair and see the entire country, it's so flat
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Jan Turkenburg:

great story, WR :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Jan: I can't recall we have that sayng here, do you? (-;
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Nope...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Considering one can only see for about three kilometers because of the actual curvature of the earth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I guess we also have to tell Adam that Hansje Brinker didn't use his thumb for that dyke...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

;-)
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
WR:

Jan, I wish that the Racoon Lady could hear some of your remixes of her. I've not looked on-line to see if she is the one that put it into the public.

PK, I thought it was more like 30 kilometers normally visible. I have a few minutes before I'm late to a meeting to check that....
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Jan Turkenburg:

@WR I've commented on the youtube page I got it from, but got no response. I did get the impression it was posted by the lady herself...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

" For a six-foot (182.88 centimeters) tall person, the horizon is a little more than 3 miles (5 kilometers) away."
So it is a little more than 3 KM.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
WR:

Well, PK, you are right, Wikipedia sez 5 KM or 3.1 mile.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
WR:

Well, gotta focus on work for a while.

Thank you Jan, laters all.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Jan Turkenburg:

see you WR
  12:59pm
Dave in St Albans UK:

Camel. So much like Hatfield and the North. Two faves of cool easy listening tunes!
Avatar 1:03pm
Mr Fab:

how do you decide what to play from the thousands of mp3.com files, Jan? Have listened to a fair amount of them?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
Jan Turkenburg:

it's an aleatory proces of some sort combined with intuition....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The Bowie tracks make me think back to yesterday. I saw Moonage Daydream in the theatre. I was very disappointed. And a little disturbed.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
WR:

Interest response PK, I've heard some liked it and some not. What did you find disturbing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Feldy:

@PK as disturbed as I was watching The Man Who Fell to Earth?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I found it was an incoherent cascade of colourful chaotically placed snippets of Bowie stuff without any addition to what has already been made.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Adam: The Man Who Fell had a story. And didn't try to cram 5 million images in a second.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Ok, my cousin asked me to go visit MD with him. So nothing new under the sun?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
Feldy:

@PK Sounds like the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit I went to, which was a lot of collage of his works projected onto the walls, without any context or the full picture (I will probably go see the Bowie film regardless)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
MHLee:

my mp3 dot com search has been limited... I go in looking for titles that match with predicted titles to unknown songs and then look around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The beginning was interesting, but I was expecting the tempo of imagery would vary and ultimately tell a story. But there was no story. There just were those snippets. And some quotes by Bowie.
The "Five Years - trilogy by Francis Whately is way more interesting. www.rollingstone.com...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
Jan Turkenburg:

And I don't like what you said about 5 million images per second. Sounds something I shouldn't go to...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
WR:

Feldy, I have seen Man Who Fell to Earth several times and find it rewarding each time I return to it.

PK, thank you for the feed back. I'm in no rush to see it. My mind has yet to digest the travelling Bowie exhibition I saw a few years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Adam: you should. Thid is just my opnion. I didn't find it immersive, more like drowning. My high-sensitive GF left after 10 minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@WR: I saw that too here in Groningen jsut a few days after he died. It was... quite the experience. I cried when I got home.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I saw it in Groningen with that same cousin and his sister, a week before David died...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Weird, to think that the exhibits got an entirely different feel to me, ten days later...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

preview.redd.it...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
WR:

My partner tells me we saw it in NYC after he died. I couldn't remember for sure.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I liked it because it gave me some new insights in the way his creativity worked.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
WR:

Agreed. I thought it excellent and wish I could have gone to it more than once.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
WR:

Ha, ha, so much for me focusing on, work. Now not prepared for my 1:30 and 2:30 meetings. Laters y'all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
Feldy:

@PK My GF is similar; get overload stress especially with certain sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@ Jan: That and also it made his world of imagery and sound get super close to the visitors. I actually touched his harlequin suit he wore in Ashes To Ashes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
Feldy:

@WR I'll give Man Who Fell another try
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Adam: It's weird, all right, but Roeg made a decent story. Bowie is the perfect alien, living on only milk and coke as he did in those days...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

This hocus pocus is a brave effort.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Feldy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm

that was gently on my mind wasn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Feldy:

Thanks, Jan! Cheers everyone
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:57pm

was it? I should have another listen with that in mind.
