The Maids' bassist "Red Snapper" is filmmaker Steven Okazaki, who is mostly known for documentaries and who won an Oscar for one of his shorts in 1991. His 1987 fictional film "Living On Tokyo Time" was co-written with John McCormick who also has a supporting role in the movie. He is AKA John Ritalin, the vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter of The Maids
