Hello Don-O.

Good Hello, Roberto & Aitch & wenzo.....damnit!

Dean:

Damn, good to know. I was just in Pismo Beach, mid-December. Been to Grover Beach, but not this last visit.

Don-O:

A nice community was a nice retirement place but is sadly turning into AirBnb and real estate hub, I fear.
  6:08pm
Dean:

I avoid AirBnb, but the real estate market is indeed salient.
Avatar 6:08pm
Don-O:

Hey, Dean. Downtown Pismo USE to be a nice beach city, but is also being invaded by real estate army and timeshares.
Avatar 6:09pm
Don-O:

Real Estate army ignored Grover Beach for ages until the last 8 years. They now think they are Santa Monica....
  6:10pm
Dean:

I've been visiting Pismo and Morro Bay for the past few years on trips to SoCal to take care of my mother. Never there for too long, but this last time was nice. We didn't stay downtown, but a bit north up the freeway.

Don-O:

I ran the house in Grover as a AirBnb; it 46% good experience and 55% shit hole. It all depends on how childish your drama queen customers are.

We had the police visit us twice......

Hello, Aitch. He's worth knowing about. Here's an article about how George Harrison's admiration of Lord Buckley inspired his song "Crackerbox Palace": en.wikipedia.org...

Don-O:

.....and there was a handful of times that the costumers booked our room, but drove past our house and kept driving by and left a bad review to the point that they mentioned that the good reviews we gathered up to this point were false and demanded we be kicked off AirBnB
  6:20pm
Dean:

Ah, the odor of irony! They use technology to find and book a place to stay, then can't navigate with GPS.

Roberto:

This Lord Buckley cat is certified meshuggeneh.
  6:23pm
Dean:

Also stayed in Huntington Beach. I was a little wary of the place for various reasons, but I have to say it was fun for a couple nights. I'm not really the traveling sort. When I arrive in a new place, I look for the beer bars, the record stores, and the public libraries.
Avatar 6:25pm
Don-O:

Oh, then there was his guy from Switzerland claimed he couldn't find our address cos we posted the wrong one and then asked if we can stand in front of our house until he/us can find him. 30 minuets he/we found him. He parked 4 blocks away.
  6:25pm
Dean:

This routine preceded Dr. Strangelove by four years?
  6:26pm
Dean:

Don't tell me. Your address was 1111. He switched the middle two?
Avatar 6:26pm
Don-O:

Yup, just a few years before that movie, Dean.

↳ Dean @6:23
Yup, when I got to a new place, I do look for any record and/or book store. New Orleans was a blast to wonder through.

Enjoying the Lord Buckley
  6:30pm
Dean:

The online encyclopedia says of Lord Buckley, "In 1959, he voiced the beatnik character Go Man Van Gogh in "Wildman of Wildsville", an episode of the Bob Clampett animated series Beany and Cecil. (The character reappeared in several episodes made after Buckley's death, when he was voiced by Scatman Crothers.)"

When I was a kid, my mom was what we then called a "waitress" part-time. One of her regular customers was Scatman.

There's a track on one of Evan Funk Davies' premiums that's based on this Nazz soliloquy. It's from the '70s so it's obviously not LB himself.

"The Nazz"first recorded in 1952, describes Jesus' working profession as "carpenter kitty."
I liked the Nazz bit, wonder if he had god-given ass?
