For as long as I have him, I only just learned that his owner died last Thursday. Apparently he had died on March 20th and no one knew all this time, not even his family members.

As near as I can tell his brother and niece will eventually come around and clean out his room and then they'll take nacho the dog's name, away to the pound because they don't know anyone who will take him

If you have any influence, please encourage them to take him to a rescue organization that will help find a suitable home for him. Small dogs are much in demand with adopters, so his chances would be very good.

Hello everyone, in a bit of a conundrum here. I just sent the most important package of my life and I’m unsure the post office lady did everything correctly. She seemed upset with all my questions about making it right. Now I’m on my way home filled with doubts and unsure I should go back and clarify. Don’t want to mess this up and upset her with my doubts. The thing is that Poste often misplace and lose items. This is too important to not care. On the other hand I think it’s going to make things worse now that is in their hands. What do you guys reckon? Trust them? Bother them ?

I'll let them know about the rescue organization. But even if they did take him there I wouldn't hold out too much hope for this dog Because even though he's generally all right with people he's not with other dogs. I don't know why, but when I'm out walking him I'll encounter someone else with a dog and he'll try to fight it.

It could be leash aggression or maybe he's just freaked out, he's been through a lot! In any case, aggression toward other dogs is not a barrier at all to adoption. They will just stipulate that he needs to go to a home with no other dogs. :-)

My kitty was super aggressive and was labeled as a behavior problem by the kill shelter. Then she went to a foster who had animals who further terrorized her. Took her almost a year to warm up to me. It was difficult, but they're always worth it ❤️

Quadruple Acrostic Cut in 4

Cut into red ribbons and
Longing to be pasted
Along the seams back
Whole, I prefer to go un-
Sliced in the loopy light

Could it be that once
Lacerated twice freaked
An animal has to think
While it nurses its wounds
Sutures glistening in hard dark blood

Cats can be playful but
Later it falls upon me
Alone to reattach all the
Wires that had this boy
Standing upright, wishing I was real

Cast me back toward the
Long sick bed, prognosis:
Ailing, your sharp
Weapons have rendered me a
Savage reminder not to tussle with thee, kitteeeee

Like Amanda said, they get used to it. I started by wrapping her up in a towel nice and tight. Now I just drape it over her and she gets the hint. They really are creatures of habit. As for trimming, the nails get cloudy when they grow back. I do the big trim first, then it's tip snips after that if you do it about every 3 weeks.

Strandlund:

↳ HyperDose @7:19

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21am

we've had cats that are easy to trim. have special cutters but a regular toenail cutter works best when you hold it sideways. one person brushes and one person squeezes the little footie so the finger comes out and trims. just get the sharp point off, don't need to go crazy. best when they are lying on their side. it takes three people at the vet because your cat is usually freaked out to be there.

Word of advice for DOG NAILS: If cut too close, these will bleed, and it will hurt. Just speaking personally, I would ask dog nails to be done at the vet or groomer especially if the nails are black.

My Squeezle (a Tuxedo) is so easy to trim his nails and to brush.

I just take off the tips with a trimmer I bought at the dollar store,.

He rolls over on his back & I just trim away & then brush him.

Little Squirt (black cat pictured at left) I have not yet attempted a nail trim.
As for brushing, he's not into it he just wants to play with the brush.

There are horizontal scratchers & vertical scratchers.

Squeezle is a horizontal scratcher & uses an outdoor rug I have at my entrance to scratch.

Squirt is a vertical scratcher & uses a kitchen chair leg. It's fine, they are old.

One thing about nail trimming.

If a cat doesn't scratch enough on their own & you just remove the tips, the nail sheath gets very thick a can be a problem, particularly when it comes to the dewclaw (up on the leg) as it can grow back into the leg.

I think different "breeds" scratch more or less than others.

My tuxedos (I've had two) don't really scratch much at all and have had the thick sheath issues.

The black cat & my Siamese that I used to have are always scratching on something so I find their nail sheaths on the floor when sweeping.

My tuxedo was the same way. Didn't love brushings, but he entertained them. Towards the end I would hold up the brush, say "cat's brushing?", and he'd jump on the bed. Didn't need to trim his nails since he only scratched the corner of an Ikea couch and had zero aggression.

I also own a pair of long leather specialty animal handling gloves. I cut three fingers off the right hand (i'm right handed) so I can operate the clippers easily. The gloves go to the elbow so they protect the hand & arm.

Bulls get called cows. They just get lumped in with the cows out there grazing. Even though they're isolated, because let's face it they're bad animals. But really they're just not getting the kind of recognition they'd like. "They look at me and they just see a cow. I dunno. That's the only reason I trim the big guys tips. He's 14 lbs. and sometimes he'll go to get up on the bed or couch & kinda miss then he's hanging by his claw(s) which isn't really good . I've got to get his weight down a bit.

The only use for the dewclaw is for climbing trees & such which neither cat does indoors, so it's easy to forget about trimming them.

I had to remove an ingrown from my late Kitty Boy Floyd's leg once. Not pleasant. That's when I used the leather gloves I mentioned. He was not happy but we got it done.

We only declawed our cats in the front. Had an incident when I was super young where we declawed a cat earlier in the day. Came home from dinner to find blood EVERYWHERE, walls too. It looked like a crime scene. Luckily that was the only issue, but it was horrifying to an impressionable young mind. When I moved out and adopted my first bachelor cat, that was the last thing I wanted to do.
