Instrumental Punk band The Messthetics (featuring Joe Lally and Brendan Canty of Fugazi and guitar wizard Anthony Pirog) exploded out of the gate with Jazz luminary sax maestro James Brandon Lewis on their 2024 debut self titled album on Impulse! While on tour the band decamped to OoD's Tucson studio for an exclusive interview. Check in with these hard working musicians before their October 3 show in Jersey City, presented by WFMU.

ØKSE, "Axe" in Danish, is a new international Free Jazz super group featuring some of the top contemporary improvising musicians: Mette Rasmussen (Denmark), Savannah Harris (USA), Val Jeanty (Haiti/USA) and Pettr Eldh (Sweden). Their debut self-titled album was recently issued by the Hip Hop label Backwoodz Studioz and features guest spots from top rappers like billiy woods and ELUCID. OoD host David Mittleman interviewed the members of ØKSE from their studio in Berlin to discuss the band and their new album.
