The Troubadour! Took me years to finally visit cuz when I was coming up, it was the home of hair-Metal. No way.

Definitely a historic venue. My favorite story is that John Lennon got kicked out of it once for heckling the Smothers Brothers.

Yeah! Also kind of 60s surf guitar. I just love how it moves under the melody.

erik-O-vert:

I must say, i agree with myself…hahaha 😜. The melodious clarity of S.Crow & the indy edginess of
Liz Phair.
I appreciate Sheryl Crow, but I gotta say I enjoy Bethany’s tone! (Crow’s darkest s/t “2nd” album is my fave). I love hearing Bethany’s appreciation of Ronstadt.
What a voice. I enjoy those Stone Poneys albums.
(Also that L.Ronstadt bio docu was so beautiful and surprisingly moving). I also love Neko Case & Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley), and feeling those compadre echoes & vibes.

not sure what they call that guitar riffing, but it does have that classic vibe that we've heard before. twangin' &-a riffin' &-a be-bop 'n' hollerin' ?!

erik-O-vert:

whilst listening, i was like... who the heck does Mr BTSnider's audio remind me of; could be an audio doppelganger for Crispin Glover (imo).

For tonight's acts yes. With the exception of John Legend. The Bowl has "rules" If it's not me then its either Jen or Ben. But tonight, me.
  1:24am
erik-O-vert:

really love(d) these interviews tonight!
as you know Mr BB, a no judgement zone (all good & love hear!), yet will share with you that i enjoy the newer indy focus interviews more than the nostalgia tripping. However, selfishly speaking, if it was nostalgia tripping with bands like japan, tears for fears, duran duran, spandau ballet, OMD, flock of seagulls, the english beat, other new wave & post punk artists, etcetc - i might change my tune with all that! hahaha.
(& not many are providing the live-theatrical actor/performer interviews & appreciations for venues). fun stuff, & as always FOLLOW what thrills you ! Appreciate it ALL.
- BB, U R inspirational !

I'm close behind you...open eared listening to everything & appreciate the effort, work & artistry that goes into the outcome! oh yea, really got a kick outta those GUPPY songs!
- my faves of the segment. New to me, have more "good homework" ta do. Keep 'em comin'. we will be listening.

erik-O-vert:

rushing a post here; really fun Rube Goldberg feature film on the process.
"The Way Things Go" is a 1987 Film: 16 mm art film by the Swiss artist duo Peter Fischli and David Weiss.
It documents a long causal chain assembled of everyday objects and industrial materials in the manner of a Rube Goldberg machine, though without the trope of accomplishing a relatively mundane task at the end. see Wikipedia ...

cool, i'll check it out!
  2:10am
erik-O-vert:

30 minute film! of "the process" that fairly obviously Ok-Go had watched ?!?
  2:26am
erik-O-vert:

still gotta watch that Sheryl Crow approved/participating bio-docu via cable network.
also; late night random query time: i haven't really looked around for it yet, but wondering if the funky humorous oh so Brit pop-band "MADNESS" ever gave good interviews for a career overview documentary... would you know? - & or were y'all ever a fan? (i'm a fan!).

Did ya ever get into Kate Bush & or Happy Rhodes (a K.Bush progeny, yet stellar singer artist in her own right). imo, start with mid-latter career and move backward.
Avatar 2:32am
Bob Barth:

Love Madness! In fact I believe they have a new album out. Maybe they'll tour, I'd love to catch them. Other then a handful of hits I wasn't a huge Kate Bush fan.
  2:49am
erik-O-vert:

MADNESS: hhhhmm...
yaya new material !? (huh)
My faves were "7" their 3rd, definitely peak "Rise & Fall" album, & the lovely "Keep Moving"! - i must admit i haven't given the re-union albums too close a spin ...oh me oh my. Have only one of the latter in collection: "The Liberty of Norton Folgate" (2009)
  3:01am
erik-O-vert:

creator Anais Mitchell is from our neck o the woods ! we got to see a few skeleton sneak preview workshops of the show. sadly, i missed its run on b-way (ugh & sigh).
