A show that kinda feels like Casey Kasem cookin’ up crockpot shortwave pirate radio, but with a lot more curbside cassette mixtapes, lost radio serials, French Canadian comedy… and zings, pings, and static. Or, well, maybe it doesn’t feel anything like that at all.

not really work safety but....worked in a supermarket in high school, with a bunch of very smart juvenile delinquents who created a lot of slang references like calling people 'immigrants' used in both a negative and positive ways like ' don't listen to him. he's an immigrant' or 'they're a bunch of immigrants' on the other hand it could be used affectionately like 'c'mere ya immigrant' sort of resonates today, btw, not the labor porn story...

Hi Everyone,

I have a workplace horror story but it wasn't for me. A long time ago at my last job, we had a Christmas party on the roof of the University building. I get bored of social events and just drinking so I went back to the office and watched The Simpsons for an hour. When I got back, I was still completely sober but refused drinks. The Dean of the Faculty had ordered staff to not serve any more alcohol. The rumour is that one of the Belgium research students had drunk too much and did an emergency puke in the first unlocked toilet cubicle. It just so happened that the Dean was peeing in the first cubicle so he didn't see who did it.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Kind of work-adjacent injury: The bearing on a pulley went bad and I rode the motorcycle into town for a new one. A lady pulled out in front of me and I slammed into the rear fender. Bruised up my left ankle and may have broken something in there. Hobbled around all summer. Wearing leather boots helped. Happened right in front of the hospital, so I was treated quickly.

When I was in high school, my world history teacher chopped off his finger in the paper cutter. I was not there to witness this however those who were there told me that he did not scream only made a real angry face and his face turned very red. He picked up the finger and put it in his pocket and walked out. A true story and my first time commenting on this show.

Terrifying! I had a teacher who had gotten his gnawed off by a lawnmower and it was the talk of the town for decades
Avatar 💣 Swag For Life Member 3:54am
tom tom the pipers son:

and just remembered, was art handling at ps 1 and there was no supervisor and too few art handlers so guards were helping and we had to move a genie lift down some stairs in order to change a light bulb, so we needed a ramp to go over steps. the ramp was short but everybody said it was fine, but the angle was too steep and when the genie lift hit the ramp it did a wheelie at 45 degrees, the other art handlers let the genie go, but i couldn't or it would have fallen on me, so i carried genie down the ramp by myself at a 45 degree angle, when it hit bottom the genie smacked me in the head an i got a concussion an eight stitches in my head. no one from administration called me at home to see how i was doing, one of whom i knew personally and later when i saw one of the administrators i tried to soft confront them about it and they said something like not management, we're just a collection of individuals... drew the line in the sand between management and labor

I was on a OHSA committee for a year. I didn't volunteer for it. It wasn't very exciting. There was a campaign to remove and replace all old powerboards.

The worst OHSA issue I saw was when I was not at work. A few pedestrians were walking on the footpath near a construction site. A large lump of concrete fell and missed a woman by about a foot.
