Thanks very much for listening to all my suggestions over the recent months. You've had some great shows - particularly the ones featuring Ted Hughs and A. A. Milne. Of all the suggestions I've made, the one I'd most like to hear you follow up on is David Gascoyne. (I think I did mention him...) In particular he wrote a radio play Night Thoughts. Reading the whole play all the way through might be too ambitious (it is written for several parts), but you could read excerpts. Much of the play is dramatic and eerie but you are a first rate reader and I'm sure you could handle it.
I've been looking for the complete test of Night Thoughts online but can't find it. Still there are lots of examples of his poems online and I did find one excerpt of NT read by David Gascoyne himself.

For me Christmas has become Saturnalia, the ancient Roman festival that took place in December and lasted almost a week. At first the early Christians tried to stamp it out (too much drinking and revelry) but it was too popular to eradicate. Eventually the Christinas employed a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" strategy and decided to celebrate the birth of Christ in December. Talk about cultural expropriation!
