Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Good morning, everybody.
Could you all please try to keep the noise down a little? I may have had too much to drink last night and I'm a little hungover....

[ a shot rings out, as Helmut falls into the snow ]
Tom Tryman: Uh-oh! He seems to have been accidentally shot by Claudine Longet! Yes.. and I’m afraid Helmut Kindle is out of this race!
Jessica Antlerdance: Yes, it’s a shame, but that’s all part of the exciting world of professional skiing, Tom.
Tom Tryman: Mmm-hmm! Well, I would have to say, it’s a very fast time up to this point. Uh.. he’s doing very well – and there’s a very nice move – uh.. I would say, at this halfway point, he’s gonig to take third, or maybe even a second-place..

I use the César cookbook for mine. Sadly, the restaurant's landlord and next door neighbor, Chez Panisse, shut it down to open a new spot. I'm hoping to see a revival of César.

My CP story: My wife and I went shopping that day (our anniversary, perhaps?), and for some knucklehead reason I purchased two expensive ties. At the time I wasn't even wearing ties. On the way home buyer's remorse struck. What was I thinking? We dressed up for our dinner at CP, and I wore one of the new ties. At the restaurant the server approached our table to greet us. The first words she uttered: "That's a beautiful tie!" No more remorse.

Whilze I was driving, a set or two ago, there was reference in lyrics to mashed potato. I watched portions of Don't Knock The Twist the other night. So much much mashed potato. And so many many skinny ties. If you were on stage, you wore a tie. Chubby's role was quick and stubby. Fun period piece, all in all, and predictably awkward and dreadful.
