That there’s now a generation of black children who know a black president is a powerful thing, when one considers the long bloody history of racial brutality toward black Americans. But I’ll never again support in any way another Democrat - unless they’re completely committed to transitioning from a capitalist economy to a socialist one. You must be constantly distracted by sensationalism; never asking or getting answers to the fundamental questions. Because, “There’s money to be made, goddamnit!” Not only by the weapons manufacturers and oil companies. But by Wall St, land speculators and corporate boards by continuing to pillage “underdeveloped” (read: overexploited) countries of their natural resources, while manufacturing is now done almost exclusively by child slave labor in SE Asia. Israel benefits from America’s diabolical dependence on all of this, while the plight of Palestinians is ruthlessly ignored and then plotted against. As long as almost all societal arrangements are subject to the profit motive, by not legislating against it NOTHING will change. It’s the capitalist economy churning up everything and everyone under foot in its way; then gliding along at a crisp clip, with incomprehensible windfalls of illicit money for CEO’s and their puppets in Congress and at all levels of government. Democracy has long flown the coop. It’s Election by Bribery. Solidarity in the 99% is the only hope we have.

This isn't coming out of nowhere--we've been leading to it for a while, and this issue in particular has been a limit case for US universities. Palestinian students and supporters have never enjoyed the full support the deserve, at least not at adminstrative levels, and probably not at faculty or peer levels either. I thought BLM, which had broad solidarity with Palestine, might be a turning point but we can see how several states have effectively outlawed discussions of race, let alone structural solutions or even attempts to recognize structural problems. The backlash has been devastating.

You must be constantly distracted by sensationalism; never asking or getting answers to the fundamental questions. Because, “There’s money to be made, goddamnit!” Not only by the weapons manufacturers and oil companies. But by Wall St, land speculators and corporate boards by continuing to pillage “underdeveloped” (read: overexploited) countries of their natural resources, while manufacturing is now done almost exclusively by child slave labor in SE Asia. Israel benefits from America’s diabolical dependence on all of this, while the plight of Palestinians is ruthlessly ignored and then plotted against. As long as almost all societal arrangements are subject to the profit motive, by not legislating against it NOTHING will change. It’s the capitalist economy churning up everything and everyone under foot in its way; then gliding along at a crisp clip, with incomprehensible windfalls of illicit money for CEO’s and their puppets in Congress and at all levels of government. Democracy has long flown the coop. It’s Election by Bribery. Solidarity in the 99% is the only hope we have.

This isn't coming out of nowhere--we've been leading to it for a while, and this issue in particular has been a limit case for US universities. Palestinian students and supporters have never enjoyed the full support the deserve, at least not at adminstrative levels, and probably not at faculty or peer levels either. I thought BLM, which had broad solidarity with Palestine, might be a turning point but we can see how several states have effectively outlawed discussions of race, let alone structural solutions or even attempts to recognize structural problems. The backlash has been devastating.
