	10:26am love2laf: We had a winter that dipped us into -40 (no conversion required there) and hubby was in China for a couple of weeks, and I slept in front of the woodstove to wake and restock. It was brutal, and To Build A Fire featured prominently in my dreams. It was an unusually bitter winter.

	10:30am bixa (𝘣𝘦𝘦-𝘩𝘢): for some insane reason the outing club at my school hosted an orienteering race every winter at one of the state parks in indiana, and for another insane reason i volunteered to help maintain the "fire water" stations. we essentially converted all the snow covered gazebos throughout the park into areas where the participating teams could stop by, refill their canteens with freezing cold water, and thaw out in front of a fire we maintined for over 48 hours. when the volunteers were sleeping we would scoot as close as possible to the fire and sleep in one big pile. so that's one way to get to know strangers pretty fast

One day I had a fever and was wandering around in the snow. I went into the library on Fifth Ave and passed out. I woke up when a cop hit me with his nightstick. "No sleeping in the library!" He barked. I wandered back outside into the snow.

	11:42am Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: Back of the napkin rugged garlic formula: For one or two people, just make this in a jar. Using a plane or fine grater, grate down an absolute shitload of garlic. Put in jar. Put in dairy of choice--sour cream, plain yogurt (my usual), heavy cream, buttermilk, whatever the hell you have in the house but the thicker the better). Put in a HUGE grind of fresh black pepper and a teeny pinch of salt. Now take plain white vinegar, and pour in about 1/3 of the volume of the dairy, put lid on and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. If it needs thinning put in a teeny bit more vinegar bit by bit and adjust to your liking and keep shaking (the jar, not yourself, although dancing in the kitchen is encouraged). Use right away, or if not, put in the coldest part of the fridge and shake the crud out of it again before using. This was the ONLY dressing I ever ordered at Cabbagetown when I got their Wings of Life arranged salad.

	10:30am bixa (𝘣𝘦𝘦-𝘩𝘢): for some insane reason the outing club at my school hosted an orienteering race every winter at one of the state parks in indiana, and for another insane reason i volunteered to help maintain the "fire water" stations. we essentially converted all the snow covered gazebos throughout the park into areas where the participating teams could stop by, refill their canteens with freezing cold water, and thaw out in front of a fire we maintined for over 48 hours. when the volunteers were sleeping we would scoot as close as possible to the fire and sleep in one big pile. so that's one way to get to know strangers pretty fast

He barked. I wandered back outside into the snow.

	11:42am Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜: Back of the napkin rugged garlic formula: For one or two people, just make this in a jar. Using a plane or fine grater, grate down an absolute shitload of garlic. Put in jar. Put in dairy of choice--sour cream, plain yogurt (my usual), heavy cream, buttermilk, whatever the hell you have in the house but the thicker the better). Put in a HUGE grind of fresh black pepper and a teeny pinch of salt. Now take plain white vinegar, and pour in about 1/3 of the volume of the dairy, put lid on and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. If it needs thinning put in a teeny bit more vinegar bit by bit and adjust to your liking and keep shaking (the jar, not yourself, although dancing in the kitchen is encouraged). Use right away, or if not, put in the coldest part of the fridge and shake the crud out of it again before using. This was the ONLY dressing I ever ordered at Cabbagetown when I got their Wings of Life arranged salad.
