Currently Reading: Werner Herzog - Every Man For Himself And God Against All.

It's pretty neat so far. That dude had an interesting (and difficult) life before he was even 20.

Jaws was filmed in Martha’s Vineyard?! Also: They used to film things in Martha’s Vineyard?! Ah, the (good?) old days when you didn’t need a huge tax incentive to film somewhere.

Back when I worked at Sinister Huge Audiobook Company, we chuckled whenever anybody still called them "books on tape."

Detective novels/noir novels are my kick lately. Man, if you read enough or watch enough films in this genre one can become jaded toward humanity. Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett and Ross Macdonald are what I've been checking out lately.
Avatar 🎙 10:55pm
Jherweg:

I keep listening to “confederacy of dunces” over and over because it’s so funny.
Avatar 10:56pm
dan in wisconsin:

The noir movie Kiss Me Deadly (1955) has got to be one of the most oddball noirs though. The ending scene is wacky, and I guess it's got a sci-fi element to it.

Ike, I've known a bunch of people, mostly at my old job, who referred to digital recording as "taping". Lifetime habits die hard.

@DJ Jherweg... What's your opinion on Tetsu Inoue? Have you listened to his Ambiant Otaku album? He basically disappeared in 2007, and most people seem to think that he died in the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami where he resided near to in Japan.
Avatar 11:08pm
dan in wisconsin:

AHHH! THE Stink I A.... Makes me think of that movie with Warren Beatty called The Parallax View (1974).

Re Schlienz -- which album would you start with? And yes, all good with pronunciation, "ie" in German gets the "ee" sound every time!
