Favoriting The Wiggle Room: Playlist from October 29, 2024 Favoriting

A different show every week! Rotating DJs include Jon Nelson's "Sheena 'ssembly Required" (Tape Manipulations, Digital Deconstructions and Turntable Creations),
MarkTime (vintage radio airchecks), and Krys O (aka Sister Krys - WFMU alumna 1985-1991, longtime Church of the Subgenius monk. Playing cinematic ephemera, schizoid weirdos, all styles served here). Plus: surprise guests galore. (illustration courtesy of https://www.jimflora.com/)

I'm exhausted, from all the recent activity I've been up to. But I'm pretty good, otherwise.

Too many late nights. Certainly fun, but exhausting. I like my cats and my comics, and clubs are loud and open late.

I do wish I could find records like this at the thrift stores anymore. Everything is so picked over now, you don't find organ records very often.

I have often said that any record contracts I am offered better have "cereal box records" as part of the deal, or I'm not signing.

Ditto. I love her style, and Les ain't nothin' to sneeze at either, but I have a pile of dupes that need new homes.

I have about 1500, give or take. But I'm going to set a space limit in 2025. Anything new that comes in, something has to leave to make room.

This will be the hardest thing I have ever had to do with my babies.

I wish they were all rare classics, but in most cases, it's, "this cover looks ridiculous, and it's a dollar, why not?" And 30 years later I'm still carting it around, wondering what "Scrubalow Caine" or whatever, sounds like.

You can find them for cheaper these days, but it depends on the stereo you have already, etc. Marla just got me a new turntable for $150 for an early Christmas present, and you can plug it into a computer, or a stereo system, depending on your need at home.

Most other components are not that much these days, if you get them used. It does require a little time shopping around, usuaully.

I feel lucky that I can listen to WFMU at work, albeit while riding the volume when co-workers come near my desk or when I have to speak to a customer on the phone. I wish I could listen on my commute home though. Darned bandwidth.

Cherry was sort of a mentor to Cliff Richards. They worked together on a TV show. I simply adore her. There are some interview snippets with her on YouTube and Dailymotion though they're rather brief.

I could but only allowed one earbud while working on the floor. Earbuds are terrible for the hearing and doubt they'd survive low freezer temps. May be able to find a small BT speaker that can handle a sub zero atmosphere
