how about a rocky prequel, little rocky. his journey from a bullied kid always getting picked on in gym class to his first boxing lesson. would have a brutal dodgeball scene about half way through.

Was opening night at my film festival and we had Edward Berger, the director, there with us (he was lovely). He also directed the recent ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT on Netflix, which is great (IMO).

Coffee and newspapers in Gladiator 2? They must've been going for laughs. Gladiator 1 was the scariest movie I ever saw, because of the fight scenes with their point-of-view rapid cuts. All it lacked was 3-D.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Ike:

Time Out says they had the "newspaper" wasn't totally insane because there was news carved on stone, but that sounds ridiculously far off from what you guys are describing. "The café is a blatant anachronism, but the concept of a Roman newspaper isn’t as far-fetched... ‘The Romans had the world’s first newspaper, the Acta Diurna,’ says [a] historian." But on stone and not paper? Does that count? Pfffft.

Gladiator is way scarier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm

The original "Gladiator" is wildly overrated IMHO. It's an OK movie but you'll find absolutely no indication of how or why it won Best Picture that year, which remains utterly baffling.
