	11:20pm cbunny: They indeed did use salt water as part of the effort. Look upon the Super Scooper planes from Canada. So many heroes on the teams fighting these fires. The retardant they've used isn't that great either, lots of nitrogen. Seriously, this has been a genuine experience, and people here are helpful and hopeful and trauma bonding on the streets. Just an incredibly amazing effort on the part of the fire fighting teams. Logistics alone coordinating everything has been way beyond impressive. I have been able to see the Pali Fire and smoke from my window since it started. It helps to understand that by three-four days in, an area larger than the size of Manhattan had burned. Fighting something like this has no simple answers, and neither does prevention. I won't get political here, but yeh, MORE SWIMMING POOLS! I live in SL and I know one person with a pool! This has to change!

They cannot cope with a massive fire with catastrophic weather feeding a firestorm.
