Anagrams are pretty cool - I like palindromes, too. My two favorite palindromes are 'DEIFIED' & 'NEVER ODD OR EVEN'.

WFMU was playing a band called Taco Cat.

↳ Song: "Symptom of the Universe" by "Ozzy Osbourne"
Y'know, I LOVE Black Sabbath, but have never listened to Ozzy's solo stuff, aside from the radio, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
Rich in Washington:

TIL: that Speak of the Devil was made up of Sabbath songs. I'd always assumed it was Ozzy solo material.
This smokes. I need to pick up a copy.

Rich, when I was a kid, I thought that this was impossibly good for a live recording. but it seems something was lost in the transcoding to digital....

The performance sounds pretty good, IMO. I'm also a huge Iommi fan but Brad Gillis does a fantastic job with the material.

Hello.

Rich in Washington:

I used to find that stuff put onto CD in the early days of CDs sounded not so great, beyond the clarity of not having either tape hiss or vinyl surface noise. I think it's probably come a long way.
Paradoxically, with the vinyl resurgence, some labels have had a difficult time mastering music for vinyl again (let alone pressing records again - that's a whole another issue). Some say it's a lost art, like Roman concrete or something.

Bill Zebub:

when the recording is analog, then I agree that distortion is warmer onvinyl, but with the hiss and occasional crackle. When music is recorded digitally and released on vinyl, it is a gimmick, a war against file sharing. But the Ozzy song I played was the first pressing on CD, so perhaps there is a remaster.

↳ Song: "Embracing the Styx" by "Candlemass"
I like this record! I was surprised when he was chosen as the new vocalist but his voice grew on me!
Avatar 1:07pm
Bill Zebub:

He refrained from the cheesy and weak higher register that poisoned some of the Solitude Aeturnus songs

↳ Song: "Put Me Down" by "The Cranberries"
I did like her voice a lot! I do enjoy some music like this!

You've played The Cardigans before, I was surprised with that one! I like her voice a lo too!
Avatar 1:20pm

I remember disliking the voice because the radio hit kept playing where I worked at the time, but then eventually kepthearing it in my head and had to buy the album, ha ha
  1:22pm
OSS:

↳ Bill Zebub @1:20
and that hit was the lesser song from the album in my opinion!
Avatar 1:24pm
Bill Zebub:

Radio hits sometimes discourage deeper dives. TYPE O NEGATIVE radio songs hint nothing about the ultra dark side of the band

When October Rust came out, it was an ep for me because many of the more accesible songs were not to my taste at all! I really liked half the record, but the singles were not to my liking at all
