Was in Scotland in the '80s. With a similar plan. But the ferry to the Orkneys was cancelled two days running. I spent said two days in driving rain in a small town drinking beer. Nearly got hit by a car, cause when you're drunk you revert to the American trafic directions.

huh, ok. I can imagine that, as ‘earnest’ older films can play ‘laughable’ as they age out of time. I’ve been known to chuckle thru some ‘inappropriate moments’ during films. It all depends. Sometimes film-geek group mentality takes over, I guess.
