"Totally Wired" by "The Fall"

Mark E Smith is God or least he was God or at least a God who turned his back on his live audiences but managed to crank out such classics as this which two decades plus later still hold strong..."I'm totally wiraaard...Cant U see?"

Dillinger
Cocaine in my brain
"Cocaine in my brain" by "Dillinger"
CD
"A knife, a fork, a bottle and a cork. That's how we spell New York" - those lyrics for some reason recently got stuck in my head so I had to dig up this reggae classic ('79 I believe was release) out of the FMU library and play it...especially since - when recently -with that chorus stuck in my brain... I would start singing it to my friends (read: subjecting) - only to find none of them knew the damn song....So it was play it and make them learn it or make new friends...and I dont have time for new friends...only new music!
C Rayz Waltz
Blackout
"Blackout" by "C Rayz Waltz"
Year of the Beast
2005
While I don't think the new album is as strong as this particular track, "Blackout" with its irrestible chantalong chorus ("we're black and we wanna be white" and of course "we're white and we wanna be black") is both at once fun and very socially observant of this hip-hop era in which we dwell
Los Bravos
Black is black
"Black is black" by "Los Bravos"
a classic but its still good...right?
Only Ones
Another Girl, Another Planet
"Another Girl, Another Planet" by "Only Ones"

LCD Soundsystem
Losing my edge
"Losing my edge" by "LCD Soundsystem"
sure it was a hit when it came out on 12" two years ago or so....and garnered repeated play when it was featured on the more recent double CD (which is pretty lame except for this one and the Daft Punk at my house song)...but dammit....our mainman in LCD manages to sum up the history of popular music in one song better than anyone I have ever heard

Lee Scratch Perry
Party Time
"Party Time" by "Lee Scratch Perry"
Vinyl
Lee Scratch Perry is GOD....its true!.....and this 12" helps prove it....albeit only "scratches" the surface.....that was a joke....but even now...seconds after I type it ...it sounds trite...which in turn makes it funny again!...made you half-smile!
Ultravox
Hiroshima Mon Amour
"Hiroshima Mon Amour" by "Ultravox"
which came first? the movie or the song? in pop culture the song is what turns people onto the movie that inspiires the song....dems the rules of pop culture....dude
Big Black
Kerosene
"Kerosene" by "Big Black"
I am partial to this song and the album it comes form (inc. Jordan Minnesota track which is equally profound and unnerving in its delivery) for several reasons...first off I bought when it first came out...and second I interviewed Big Black back in those heady late eighties right before they called it quits (they told me they would be pompus assholes but they were really nice).....and I went to see one of their final shows later that same night (I Beam in San Francisco) and they literally gave me goosebumps....Fucking A!....Staring at the walls....nuthin to do
The Mice
Not Proud of the USA
"Not Proud of the USA" by "The Mice"
when was this released? 2005? it could have been.....the presidents may have changed but the song remains the same....Goddammit!
Immortal Technique
Bin Laden
"Bin Laden" by "Immortal Technique"
2005
CD
"Bin Laden didnt blow up the projects" - this has to be the best political hip-hop song of the year so far.....Harlem's finest is a fuckin prophet in our time.....give the man respect and support...and go out and buy everything he has released to date...Revolutionary music indeed!
