Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

@bruceleh, heh, so long ago! I was a college rep for the label so carried around stacks of that first album to record stores and the like for months.
  12:42am

Play some Roxy Music, it's perfect for the rain. Hey, didn't Ferry cover "A Hard Rain's a-gonna fall"?

  12:51am
dave:

moya brennan. nice choice.
  12:52am
slugluv1313:

and of course Faust's "It's A Rainy Day Sunshine Girl" (even thought Rob W. played it earlier) . . . "IT'S A RAINY DAY, SUNSHINE KITTIES!!!" (long, possibly convoluted story; cat-rescue friends were *supposed* to do an adoption event today in Brooklyn)
  12:52am
Julie:

that was Maire Brennan also from Clannad
  12:52am
dave:

she was in clannad, back before she changed her name.
  12:52am
slugluv1313:

this Cat Stevens is PERFECT!!!!!!! :)
  12:53am
dave:

hah! timing.
  12:53am
Julie:

yep she put out a couple albums as Maire then got sick of people mispronouncing her name
  12:55am
greg in portland:

sounding great, you guys! oh, and: make it rain - KLF!
  12:55am
david:

lol Fabio vs. Walter Brennan
  12:58am
Holly in NC:

Type O Negative's Summer Breeze cover would be quite appropriate!
  12:58am
Fabio:

She Brings the Rain by Can is one of my favorites. And Scott Walker does "It's Raining Today" which is another good one. It's hitting Brooklyn hard now. We have a leak in the bathroom ceiling now.
  1:00am
TJ:

Not saying this is a cop out, but ...
  1:01am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

.. yep getting the wind swept bands here now in Gravesend Bklyn... in an old house here my backyard is just between Coney Island and 86st on the N Train but I think I am high up enough.. TG I found the Sump pump for the basement at least !!
  1:01am
Holly in NC:

If not now, when?
  1:02am
david:

spooky with the actual wind blowing outside...
  1:03am
Taylor:

This won't even fill a minute of airtime, but: "Theme from Flood" by They Might Be Giants.
  1:03am
Stevel:

Holly: Glad to hear you're weathering it well. Keep it up.
  1:04am
slugluv1313:

okay if you are going to play The Doors, then you *must* segue into "It's Raining Men" by the Weather Girls :)
  1:04am
fleep:

But is your brain squirming like a toad?
  1:04am
Taylor:

Spinal Tap: "Break Like the Wind"
  1:05am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

"Here come the Flood" .. from Peter Gabriel's 1st one....
  1:05am
david:

John Densmore...
  1:05am
jaycjay:

My toad is squirming like a brain. It's kind of disgusting.
  1:06am
Taylor:

And of course you could play the complete "Consequences" album by Godley + Creme.
  1:06am
moss:

  1:06am
bruceleh:

  1:07am
Holly in NC:

@Stevel -
We're over & done! Forecast = sunny & 94F in the am.
However, my family & friends in Connecticut & Massachusetts are next in the direct line of fire.
  1:07am
listener mark:

Would you, could you, play Grateful Dead? "Box of Rain" or "Looks Like Rain" ?
  1:07am
greg in portland:

the storm - high places
  1:09am
Matt from Springfield:

I can really hear that bucket! It's still noisy raining in VA, but no winds or anything severe.

Btw, I heard the "Hole In The Bucket" folk song as a child; evidently that's a Pennsylvania Dutch traditional song (with the "Dear Liza" line as the girl's name).
  1:09am
jaycjay:

Wow... now that we're really getting to "back in the day" greatness. Godley & Creme Consequences! Haven't even thought of that album in years, but it played a big part in my musical growth.
  1:09am
Pundit:

Fabio +8

  1:13am
bruceleh:

Why must I be
in this lonely room
watching the Gong Show
and thinking of you
  1:13am
Matt from Springfield:

There's no playlist of songs up--print out what you've played, even a few days later! Since Clay's played "Houses of the Holy", have you played "The Rain Song" tonight? That was a fav zone out song from my high school days.
  1:13am
Holly in NC:

Er....the Cult - Rain? Okay, okay, I'll banish myself & save y'all the trouble ;-)

Perhaps a hopeful note - Roy Redmond's version of "Good Day Sunshine?
  1:14am
Joe D:

Moe: I'm taking your favorite song out of the jukebox

Homer: "It's Raining Men"?!

Moe: Not no more it ain't
  1:14am
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: Or, considering the show's title, "Ridin' The Storm Out" by REO Speedwagon? I don't really like REO, but that's one of their songs I do like.
  1:14am
Dan McFakename:

Hey guys, thanks for keeping ua company in Morris County tonite. I'd request the Coathangers' "Hurricane" from their newest LP but there are several swear words in it.
  1:15am
Matt from Springfield:

  1:26am
Fabio:

The Cowsils The Rain, The Park, & Other Things
  1:26am
slugluv1313:

omg "Rain Song" TOTAL zone out song for so many of us -- i used to play that song when it was raining outside while burning "Rain" incense (high school, mid-1970s)
  1:26am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie Seriously??? I can only imagine how terrible that is--the Times Square webcam doesn't show flooding, but particular areas are going to see damage.
  1:26am
jaycjay:

NOAA says no actual probability of hurricane force winds in NYC. Storm surge is really the only worry, winds aren't gonna be that much beyond what we get a few times a year.
  1:27am
fleep:

Come Rain or Come Shine - Sinatra
  1:27am
jaycjay:

And... I'm writing from a Zone A "mandatory evacuation zone" a couple blocks from the East River.
  1:28am

@Fabio: YES! I LOVE that song!

Btw, I likewise LOVED you guys on Julie's show! I go back to your talking segments and listen to them several times the last couple weeks!

While looking up the recently departed Jani Lane of Warrant, I found that he was married to the "Cherry Pie" music video girl for a few years, AND that she was seeing one of the Nelson brothers at the time!

Meghan:

Stupid phone app and me being anxious....
  1:35am

The Partridge Family,

"Shower you with all my love"
  1:36am
Holly in NC:

Meghan - You are obviously an exceedingly kind-hearted & generous person. I wish I could calm your nerves!
  1:37am
Minnesota Jeff:

Dave: Nothing quite like attending a concert in St. Paul and the band says something about being in Minneapolis, and the crowd screams back that its St. Paul.
  1:37am
Robert:

That's what I thought, JCJ, as I saw the direction of the hurricane's approach. Raking the coast, before the eye gets close to NY, it'll be severely attenuated. Maybe even less of a storm than the tropical storm we had in 1985 -- you know, when some news dept. ginned it up to a "killer rain"?
  1:37am
Matt from Springfield:

YES!! I saw the earlier "Cloudbusting" suggestion--this is PERFECT!!

Make sure to look up the video on YT, with Kate Bush and Donald Sutherland. Very compelling.
  1:38am
dave:

i am TOTALLY taking credit for "cloudbursting".
  1:40am

You go girl.
  1:43am
M Cereal.:

are you guys gonna be posting a playlist at some point, or am I SOL because I tuned in late?

The music's been all over the place, but it's worked so well.

This is why live, terrestrial radio is fantastic and the malleability of freeform only lets you showcase the fluidity of the format and its potential.

Great work, Julie and Clay
  1:44am
Minnesota Jeff:

Hipping is about 4.5 hours north of Minneapolis.

Er uh, Hibbing rather.
  1:45am
Matt from Springfield:

I think Taylor is calling from the future...but that means that we WILL survive!
  1:45am
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: I think of "Laugh In" whenever I hear "Burbank, CA"
  1:45am
jaycjay:

@Robert, yeah, that was Gloria (I think) in 1985. I'd been living in the midwest for a while and just came back a few months before that... I was kind of disappointed that my return to coastal weather turned out to be so little. Though on the other hand, part of Long Island did get hit really hard as I recall.
  1:47am
jaycjay:

Ha! Right, Matt, same here. Laugh In's "Beautiful Downtown Burbank" was probably the first time I heard that city's name and that phraseology has stuck with me ever since.

Hope alll of you guys are hanging in there and doing okay! (I'm actually away in NC this weekend and thus missed all the hurricane excitement) side note, I'm doing this from my phone so I won't be able to see replies. Anyway, have fun and stay safe Clay and Julie! Please pass those wishes along to Keili and DJ Mama as well! Please be careful out there!!

david:

Don't forget Julie, MFS... :)

Matt from Springfield:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobbie_Brown

Apparently the twin sons of Ricky Nelson were Gunnar and Matthew Nelson. It was Matthew seeing model Bobbie Brown, who filmed the Cherry Pie video, and met Jani Lane in the process...
  1:50am
Matt from Springfield:

@david: Ha ha, yes, I'm sure Julie would love The Cowsills as well. Who wouldn't? ;D
  1:51am

Matt from Springfield:

Bless you Clay, I love them a lot!
I know this intro...it's the Grand Funk you played two weeks ago!
  1:55am
Holly in NC:

Speaking of captains, would Slint be too college radio?
  1:56am
Minnesota Jeff:

This is a great song!
  1:56am
clay:

2 weeks ago .... sigh I play the same stuff over and over I know
  1:56am
12539:

@jaycjay, Fabio recommended She Brings The Rain a while back but Clay and Julie say they can't find it.
  1:57am
dave:

it is truly raining puppies in morristown.
  1:57am
Matt from Springfield:

@MN Jeff: America's original members (Dewey Gerry and Dan) were Air Force brats living in England, and they named the band after their home country.

(Dewey and Gerry autographed my LP of America's first album, and said that they took the picture in a British pub that had American Indian wall panels, for the atmosphere!)
  1:59am
daupo:

The wind in Queens is surely picking up... good thing we have the Clay and Julie life-line.
  2:00am
Minnesota Jeff:

Matt: Oh, interesting. Whats the go to America album?
  2:01am
Flooney:

...and two by two, my human zoo, they'll be running for to come, running for to come out of the raiiiiiin!
  2:01am
jaycjay:

Ah, OK thanks 12539. I'm happy at least that the estimable Fabio made the same request that I did.
  2:02am
JOhn Guggle:

"I'm getting closer to my home...come on everyone!...I'm getting closer to my home....Hurricane, come on!"

Best memory of the hurricane, thanks clay
  2:03am
Robert:

Interesting, JCJ, in that I too had returned from the Midwest, but 5 years before.
  2:03am
Matt from Springfield:

@Jeff: Besides any Greatest Hits comps, I would rec for their original albums "America" their first (1971), "Homecoming" (1972), or "Hearts" (1976).
  2:03am
fleep:

excuse me, I have a doctor's prescription for this, this is medicine. the fact that it's called Bubba Kush should not matter
  2:03am
Matt from Springfield:

@fleep: Amen!! Bubbakushious!
  2:05am
Matt from Springfield:

No long-term power outages in Springfield yet...just experienced the 5th brief "blip" of the evening. Dominion is actually doing great tonight in reconnecting their power connections.

Susan:

Ike was way scary when it hit Houston, and I lived 60 miles from the shore. It sounded like a freight train coming through my house. 2 weeks without power...Good luck to you guys!
  2:08am
Mary Wing:

Just use the Sunday log, Julie, put Thursdays log back in the right place.
  2:08am
Matt from Springfield:

Wendy the Cheese Lady!
  2:08am
Julie:

ok but it's already got crap on it
  2:09am
Matt from Springfield:

Play the Ruthann Friedman version of "Windy"! She's the one who wrote it, and it's better than the Association!
  2:09am
Vero:

Clay and Julie, you are making our night...my boyfriend and I are huddled in Queens, playing a board game by candlelight and listening to your show. Right now we feel you are two of our best friends.
  2:09am
Lizardner Dave:

Just tuned in over the FM signal here in Zone B, Staten Island. Still have power, fingers crossed.
  2:09am
Mary Wing:

I'll fix it on Wednesday, no worries.
  2:09am
Bas, NL:

Wendy! Hang in there!
  2:10am
Ike:

Yeah watching TV now is a HUGE mistake -- they're really overhyping the HELL out of this. Winds are only 18 mph in Central Park and 28 in Atlantic City.
  2:10am
Flooney:

Favorite album by The Nice? Five Bridges.
  2:10am
Vero:

The Bob Dylan song you played earlier put me in the mood for "The Times They Are A-Changing"; would you be so kind as to play it? It is not rain related but would fill me with gratitude.
  2:11am
Matt from Springfield:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?3-daynl?large#contents

The National Hurricane Center shows Irene right below Monmouth Co, so you're probably getting the brunt of it soon.
  2:12am
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: Don't you have one of those apnea breathing masks? Quite a few of my family uses those, and it helps you sleep better A LOT.

greg in portland:

"I stalked her like a celery stick." - Clay
  2:13am
Matt from Springfield:

@Vero: "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall"? That's a great Dylan one. Written as he thought of the world ending during the Cuban missile crisis.
  2:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Dusty-Kissâ„¢!!
  2:14am
Robert:

BTW, I'm in the Bronx.

I think this show is going to be way more interesting than Ian Punnet tonight, which I've got on via WTAM, Cleveland; AM DX is pretty good tonight.
  2:15am
Lizardner Dave:

7671without power on SI so far, I'm not one of them yet, fingers crossed....
  2:18am
Ike:

Bill W. says "highest winds for NYC now forecast around 50 mph." Not a big deal, then.

@Vero, candlelight in Queens? Friend of mine just said she lost power in Rosedale... eh, I don't want that to happen. I like electricity!
  2:20am

No, Bourbon is pretty much any Kentucky whiskey (Jack is Tennessee--that is NOT Bourbon).

Wild Turkey is good, it's fairly strong though.
  2:21am

  2:21am
Susan:

Be strong, Julie!
  2:22am
Matt from Springfield:

A MIGHTY WIND!!!

(Listen to The Seekers "Come The Day"--it seems to be an inspiration for "A Mighty WInd" and Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara's "When I'm Next To You")
  2:22am
jaycjay:

Well, bourbon did get its name from the county, (or area before it even was a county, I think) but now it doesn't all come from there like the way wines have to come from a particular region in order to use the name.
  2:22am
Mary Wing:

I can hear them, Mark, can't you?
  2:23am
tomB:

This Mighty Wind song reminds me to tell you that it was the Serendipity Singers who performed "Don't Let the Rain Come Down"
  2:23am
greg in portland:

the captions on my tv just said the Portland Timbers/DC United match was postponed due to Hurricane Eye Reap.
  2:24am
listener mark:

@ Mary Wing We are back
  2:24am
Matt from Springfield:

@tomB: Once I heard of The Serendipity Singers, I thought that they MUST be "The New Main Street Singers" from A Mighty Wind!
  2:26am
tomB:

oops. David noted the Serdips already, I'm late
  2:26am
Mary Wing:

Cranes, nice. Is this this at the station?
  2:26am
Julie:

@mary I brought it with me
  2:27am
RachaelFox:

Hooray for the Cranes!
  2:28am
jaycjay:

Yeah, can count on Julie to have something cool with her.
  2:29am
jaycjay:

Missing the point about the soccer game being cancelled. The point was "hurricane Eye Reap" in the closed captions.
  2:29am

In the Catskills, there isn't much else to do but drink.
  2:30am
Matt from Springfield:

@Mark: Ah, you learned the lesson from Thursday's show well! :)
  2:31am

Not exactly in line with the "theme" but .....
  2:31am
Robert:

This was good at a NY Sharks (women's) football game over the p.a.
  2:31am

  2:32am
fleep:

Goodnight Eye Reap, Goodnight Eye Reap, ICU in my dreams
  2:33am

Oh man ... played this 2-weeks ago, too.
  2:34am
Matt from Springfield:

Oh come on Clay, did you literally leave this LP in the studio two weeks ago and forget to put it back?!

That said, thank you, I love this Queen song :D
  2:34am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

ooooo early early Queen go Clay ... \:D/\:D/\:D/
  2:34am
Minnesota Jeff:

  2:34am
jaycjay:

heh, fair enough Greg. That's the kind of thing that makes him who he is, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
  2:34am
Flooney:

This is not the Queen song I requested indirectly.
  2:35am
greg in portland:

isn't that one by Taw Mweights, fleep?
  2:35am

Gooooo Snapple! Made from the Best Stuff on the Third Planet from the Sun!

Used to be in Lansing, not East Lansing... but was torn down a few years ago.
  3:00am

"I wanna know, have you ever seen Loraine?"
  3:02am

I wish I was there! It's not fair that they stopped running the trains!
  3:03am
Vero:

You guys have all made our night so much nicer...commentors on the playlist too!
  3:03am
jaycjay:

These days this song reminds of the show Breaking Bad.
  3:04am
Matt from Springfield:

@MN Jeff: Oh, you'd better not ask about "the bathroom on the right"!!!
  3:04am
Vero:

Stay strong Clay and Julie, you are halfway through your tour of duy
  3:05am
jaycjay:

So strongly agree, Vero. The night of riding out the approaching hurricane couldn't be better than with this group.
  3:06am
unionjeff:

Play "Looks Like Rain" by the Grateful Dead. I Love It. Terrible song though!
  3:09am
Minnesota Jeff:

What about "Box of Rain" by the Grateful Dead off of "American Beauty"?
  3:10am
alberto:

clay, i'm in love with you. just thought you should know that. :)
  3:10am
Robert:

I just stepped out to see the clouds and rain moving from east to west, so that some hours from now I can see them being driven back to the east. I don't know why, but something about seeing stuff like that (cyclonic flow) actually demonstrated in front of me -- or even reading of it in literature as a side note in a description of something else -- chokes me up. I've been trying to figure out for the past decade or so why certain things in drama, literature, or fact make me cry. It's not a sad cry, either.
  3:10am
Minnesota Jeff:

30 Odd Foot of Grunts
  3:12am
Robert:

"Coast to Coast AM" is STILL exclusively about the storm, but not as interesting as you.
  3:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Russell Crowe: "Makin' movies, makin' songs, and FIGHTIN' 'ROUND THE WORLD!"
  3:14am
tomB:

@Matt & Clay: TOFOG!
  3:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Clay, have you listened to Nat Roe's "Adult Contemporary Reverse Chartsweep" DJ premium? It has the hook of this song, and only the hooks of almost all #1 AC hits in the past 50 years! It's a fun listen--very ADD like Nat's shows, but I love it, you probably would too!
  3:15am
Mary Wing:

I'd like to figure out why I teared up while watching the video for "Love Is A Battlefield" earlier today. I mean, really.
  3:15am
Robert:

Even remembering reading about a FICTIONAL account of a MISCONCEPTION of a scientific principle gets to me! I'm just recalling from Crichton's "The Great Train Robbery" how a character got screwed up about Bernoulli's Principle (from "the Italian, Baroni").
  3:16am
Robert:

Mary, does thinking about one cry-making thing lead you to thoughts of other cry-making things? It does me.
  3:17am
Matt from Springfield:

Nick Drake demo? Me like! I have several of those.
  3:18am
Mary Wing:

Oh lordy, yes, Robert. Don't get me started!
  3:19am
Robert:

I told my friend Allen L. Rickman how I teared up at the conclusion of "I Was A Teenage Zombie" (a movie he was in). He said, "That's sick."
  3:21am
Matt from Springfield:

"Early Morning Rain"--I originally heard the version by Ian & Sylvia, and found this was written by Mr. Gordon Lightfoot in 1965.
  3:21am
john anderson:

"there's a little girl, in our neighborhood.
her name is charlotte johnson, and she's really lookin' good.
i had to go and see her, so i called her on the phone.
i walked over to her house, and this was goin' on.
her brother was on the sofa, eatin' chocolate pie.
momma was in the kitchen, cuttin' chicken up to fry.
daddy was in the backyard, rollin' up a garden hose.
i was on the porch with charlotte, feelin' love down to my toes...and we were swingin"
  3:21am
Mary Wing:

Not having seen that movie, I can't say if that's sick or not. But it's probably not the standard response.
  3:23am
Robert:

I do want to get another chance, though, to step onto a football field like Mitchel Field in Nassau Co. ringed with tall light towers in the middle of a thunderstorm -- that was the situation once -- even though I'd get drenched, just to show there was no danger of lighting strike there. The light towers atl at the same height would not only protect the middle from lightning strike, but assure that the surface within was all at the same electric potential, so there'd be no danger from sideways ground currents either.
  3:23am
Vero:

I love Gordon lightfoot, guiltily...
  3:24am
Vero:

Going to see him in Ithaca later in Sept...
  3:24am
Robert:

Oh, I know it's not the standard response, Mary. I also laugh at places in movies & stage shows where nobody else does. Also TV shows I'm sure, but that's because of inside jokes.
  3:25am
tomB:

"I was born in a Class 5 hurricane"--by the Glimmer Twins

Here's one... Cool Water by Joni Mitchell from Chalk Mark In A Rainstorm, with Willie Nelson backing her up. Memorable... keep 'em swimmin...
  3:27am
Matt from Springfield:

Pre-Cambrian refers to 4.6 billion years ago, when the Earth was first forming. Cambria means Cambridge in Latin, but the Cambrian/Pre-Cambrian period is geologic time, SO long ago.
  3:27am
Vero:

Very obvious, but has "Rock Me Like a Hurricane" been played yet? I apologize in advance to people who hate hair metal.
  3:28am
Robert:

BTW, TV is chock full of jokes that are so subtle they might as well be inside jokes.
  3:30am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Joe D! Just the "Human Googler"! :)

Don't let on to my computer hard drives and synthetic speech, Julie! :)
  3:30am
Robert:

The people who make them never acknowledge these jokes that are based on certain knowledge. I figure that for every one I've caught, there must be a hundred I don't.
  3:31am

Characters and place names

Correction: "the classical name for Wales, Cambria, where rocks from this age were first studied"; Cambridge is "Cantabrigia".
  3:32am
clay:

Refugee - Patrick Moraz
  3:32am
Mary Wing:

You mean like pop culture references? Or puns?
  3:33am
Robert:

The funny thing is that, had someone told me of similar perceptions from TV shows years back, I might've concluded those were what psychiatrists call 'ideas of reference" -- but THOSE tend to be things like the Martians are sending the listener secret messages, not ha-ha stuff.
  3:33am
Matt from Springfield:

This is Refugee? It sounds pretty good. It reminds me of Dutch rock Classical music group Ekseption in the 70s.
  3:33am
daupo:

I already feel the two of you rolling into 6 am like flaming comets, in transcendent triumph.
  3:34am
jaycjay:

I just learned something from Joe. When someone puts you on the spot with a question like "as associate producer what exactly to you do?", just pretend it never happened and say nothing. Eventually the silence will move on.
  3:34am
Robert:

Mary, I mean like all sorts of allusions, some of which may involve word play -- loads of ways the writers have fun. They're not usually to pop culture, though -- or if they are, those are the ones I miss.
  3:35am
hood cracka:

What tune dis?
  3:35am
Robert:

For instance, it shows how influential the late Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson were on Hollywood -- without overt acknowledgment or money from it, though!
  3:36am
fleep:

LIke naming characters after people in your family and friends so they hear their names on TV.
  3:36am
Mary Wing:

I guess I'm thinking of Bugs Bunny cartoons, which were far more adult in content than typical Saturday-morning cartoons.
  3:37am
Robert:

TV commercials especially were crammed with 23s & 17s.

No fleep, I don't mean ACTUAL inside jokes, although I've caught some of those too. It helped that a friend of mine became a TV writer, Damon Lindelof.
  3:37am
Julie:

it doesnt end at 6..Keili will be in, and then she's joining us at 9 for more nonsense
  3:39am
Robert:

There was a Looney Tune called "3 Little Bops" that made a striking allusion to the Bavarian Illuminati. And that was before Shea & Wilson!
  3:39am
Mary Wing:

I hope Julie and Clay will take a nap from 6-9 am!
  3:41am
Robert:

It helped to be introduced gradually to this sort of thing. I mentioned the 23s & 17s. Then Gough & Millar came out with the "Shanghai" movies that were very heavy handed with their allusions. That led me to see much subtler allusions in their "Smallville" TV series.
  3:42am
daupo:

"Had breakfast in the eye of a hurricane " is a Tom Waits lyric, and he is stormy.

And there's a line from the Popeye soundtrack, by Harry Nillson, the Swee'Pea song, also with "eye of a hurricane" in it.
  3:42am
fleep:

I know the wind! I know!
  3:42am
alberto:

a song that comes to mind is "disaster" by cher u.k.
a kansas city band from the 90's. they were on the red decibel label (a subsidiary of columbia)
  3:43am
Robert:

Gough & Millar basically used their Superboy stories to retell OTHER, UNRELATED stories -- such as of the Kennedys, Alger Hiss, and Prometheus.
  3:44am
Mary Wing:

So, they're basically recycling stories, rather than creating new content?
  3:44am
fleep:

Is that being allusional or just stealing story lines
  3:44am
Robert:

...plus somewhat related stories, such as that of Frederic Wertham.
  3:45am
tomB:

Great! "Who Knows the Wind?" is heavily overlooked.

Easier to remember--"The Wind" 1954 Nolan Strong &thDiablos. You could also check out the Jesters 1960, Mark Sultan, aka "BBQ," of King Khan & BBQ Show, recorded a version of it for Norton's "Daddy Rockin Strong: A Tribute to Nolan Strong & The Diablos." But my personal fave is Laura Nyro &Labelle on "Gonna Take a Miracle."
  3:45am
Julie:

it's freezing in the green room.>I couldn't sleep there and I fear the loft
  3:45am
Robert:

No, they're very cleverly telling 2 or more stories at once, one of which is an old one and the other original.
  3:46am
Robert:

So when Damon got his TV series "Lost", I saw loads of allusions to literature we knew in common.
  3:47am
Robert:

I should say that first he sat down with me and had me tell him why I liked "Smallville" so much.
  3:47am
Mary Wing:

Bring the couch cushions into studio C, Julie. That's where I sleep. Just remember to turn off the ceiling speaker by the library listening station.
  3:49am
Brick Van Dee:

"It's allright for what it is" - What a brilliantly neutral answer, Julie!
  3:50am
Robert:

Anyway, my assumption -- maybe poorly founded -- is that if I saw those things on the TV shows I paid att'n to, there must be even more in all the TV shows I don't pay att'n to. And I don't even watch TV any more! (Haven't had it on in months.)
  3:50am

I can see Clay and Julie doing a telethon, raising money for gentle yet scarred souls who stay up all night during hurricanes listening to FMU, finding a cure, which is not too hard, for FMU is the cure, which leads to maybe playing the Cure, but only long after Nico, but time is slipping, time is passing, maybe it's too late, or maybe just too early?
  4:13am
