Live performance by Julianna Barwick
To call Julianna Barwick's experimental soundscapes otherworldly may be an understatement. Barwick's soundscapes grew out of her experiences as a choir girl in Louisiana and Missouri. Julianna begins her songs quietly, usually with a single refrain, and then builds looped pieces around her extraordinary vocals until she's woven a complex, sonic architecture. Julianna Barwick plays live.

The gentle Irene. This is from an album I cherish so much that I've never owned a copy for fear of overplaying it. I adore hearing bits of it on the radio once in a great while.

Sweet vintage Crimson.

Dave B:

Indeed, 12539... indeed...

"Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!"

  2:08pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

  2:09pm
Jay/ London:

late summer bank holiday
  2:13pm
Sean Gostage:

And as per the norm the weather is pants here in Bristol, UK
  2:16pm
Irene:

Sean, pardon my ignorance but I don't know that term.
  2:17pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

the weather here is tending toward sweaters
  2:20pm
T-Zero:

Today is brilliant. The overcast lifted leaving a cloudless blue sky with a light breeze and 75 (24c).

Earlier it was quite yuck.
  2:20pm
Jay/ London:

pants means rubbish bad not good
  2:22pm
Jelly Jim:

That will be pants in the English sense as in underpants and not trousers
  2:22pm
T-Zero:

And best of all, *no* humidity. Irene on the coast most have sucked it all that way.
  2:34pm
T-Zero:

@Jay ooops! I guess south of me there are some fluffy white clouds. lol here's an update from what it was like earlier: http://tinyurl.com/3skpj8s
  2:35pm
T-Zero:

The program has been the perfect music today.
  2:37pm
Jay/ London:

@ t-zero thanks for the update
  2:42pm
T-Zero:

@Jay It looks like they shifted the camera somewhat. That's still looking east over the university. I'm about 5 miles to the north (off to the right).
  2:42pm
Jay/ London:

@ t-zero looks about same as the other pic ... hey Irene I don't get to hear your show as i would be at work. Been so good to listen to you on our English bank holiday
:0
  2:43pm
T-Zero:

@Jay. Ah. It was really overcast and chilly earlier.
  2:44pm
T-Zero:

OOOps. I meant off to the left of the image, not right
  2:45pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

so this is our Israeli friend Yair! Very nice!
  2:46pm
Jay/ London:

@t-zero we had SUN for a bit here on the heath and a band played it was cool :0 .. i get my left and right sometimes mixed with pics lol
  2:49pm
T-Zero:

@ Jay That's such an odd perspective for me, I still find it hard to orient from that image. It's not exactly due east but angled and from west of the campus so it throws off how I orient.
  2:54pm
alberto:

:) goodnight, irene
  2:56pm
Sean Gostage:

Love the track, Irene, this has just been a fanatastic show, thank you so much
  2:58pm
Irene:

Hey Jay/London, glad you (end everybody else) get a chance to listen live. Glad you enjoyed it! Catch you next Monday!
  2:58pm
12539:

Thanks for another great show, Irene (+ Julianna).
  2:58pm
WiLd NeiL:

Great, great show Irene, thanks for your tough commute you did for US , your humble listeners. The world is a better place because of FMU..
  2:58pm
T-Zero:

@Jay What's strange about that pespective, is that the uni campus is north of the downtown, but in that image it makes it look like it's west

Then again, no one but me cares lol
  2:58pm
WiLd NeiL:

Stay dry!
  3:00pm
T-Zero:

Thanks for the program today, Irene. Glad you were safe and able to make it in.
  3:01pm
Jay/ London:

@ t-zero every thing matters ..... not
