Listener comments!

  6:08pm
Ike:

But what are the odds that something will "go down" underground? When was the last time that happened? That said, the ferry would tempt if I lived or worked near the water.
  6:10pm
On Florida:

I hear that. I can't think of one good thing about that state.
  6:10pm
Sean Daily:

Yeah! Because God forbid we actually HUMANIZE a persecuted minority, amirite?
  6:11pm
Ike:

Yes, areed on FL.
  6:11pm
Ike:

Oops, that's "agreed."
  6:13pm
Brass Knuckles:

What's more pagan than a decorating a tree?
  6:15pm
Jordan B:

I used to work at the ACLU. During the month of December we would receive bags and bags of Christmas cards with nasty messages written inside. Apparently, good Christians across this great nation would get together and write hate mail to us as a holiday tradition.
  6:15pm
Question:

Isn't whining about how stupid other groups are a way of avoiding any focus on your own group's (and, your own) dumbnesses?

That applies to both the Muslimophobes and Christianophobes on the two sides of this very same-old-same-old debate.
  6:16pm
seang:

and like John Wesley Coleman says, "Christians drive like shit"
  6:17pm
Brass Knuckles:

I've heard if you want to sway companies, you write an actual letter to them. Freaks them out. If a person is so angry, they'd write a letter, imagine all the people seething behind comment boards and forums.
  6:18pm
Koch Industries:

You can buy Koch brother products at Home Depot!
  6:22pm
Koch Industries:

Money is money and corporations is people!
  6:22pm
Danne D:

Did we get Chris T's take on the magic that is Tim Tebow?
  6:23pm
Listener zero:

Was that Sheldon? How come he doesn't call 7SD anymore?
  6:28pm
Danne D:

When we scores, when he gets a first down, when he spikes the ball...
  6:29pm
yaya:

i'm so over religion
  6:30pm
Danne D:

The fun part is that Tebow spends the first 55 minutes of every game being shambolically awful and then the last 5 minutes Timmy miracles comes out and wins the game (well actually the defense will usually make some big plays and the kicker might kick a 59-yard field goal to tie the game but it's all about Tebow)
  6:31pm
Danne D:

Lowe's must get a lot lumber sales for building crosses?!?
  6:32pm
Ike:

How "great" that part of town used to be? I'm no fan of the Disney-fied Times Sq. but I'm always mystified when people reminisce about "the scum, the ¢#ñts, the dogs, the filth, the shit" as it were. I don't want to hang around there either. 8th Ave. in the mid-to-upper 30s still has some of that flavor and it's very lame & creepy, and squicks me out.
  6:35pm
Mark from VT:

The union wasn't powerful enough to get the Christmas music stopped?
  6:36pm
Ike:

That was a CLASSIC article in LCD. I related to that. A lot.
  6:36pm
Danne D:

@Mark - Elves Union probably protested I'm guessing
  6:37pm
CBK:

Religion in altogether sucks the life out of christmas... : (
  6:37pm
Danne D:

@Ike I remember being on a school bus for a field trip rolling through the old Times Square - I remember it was pretty freaky with the porn theaters with the haikus on the marquees.
  6:37pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

Great stuff, Chris! Let's not fault Lowes for courting a demographic that reproduces like no other. I think we're ahead of the Latinos somehow. Maybe their women have a say in things?
  6:39pm
Danne D:

All American Christian - a true fish in water story.
  6:41pm
Ike:

They had haikus? OK, maybe that IS interesting.
  6:44pm
Mike East:

I like celebrating a secular Xmas, though I was raised Catholic. Having a tree in the house is nice, and I like eating food with friends and family. As far as Lowes and reality TV - I support neither.
  6:45pm
drewo:

Enjoying the show today Chris.

I try to go the Ace Hardware that's in my 'hood. And HoJo's and Horn & Hardart were chains too. Someday folks might look fondly back on the simple times of Chili's... and Chili's Too...
  6:49pm
Mark from VT:

strange. this show is growing as a show.
  6:51pm
CBK:

Jesus christ was just a dude. with an old man, a good book and a real forgiving mood.
  6:53pm
Caller:

"I can sing it acapulo"
  6:53pm
Caller:

acapulco, duh
  6:56pm
Peacemaker:

Yeah, Christians, leave the shoulder chips to angry seculars lol
  6:56pm
Danne D:

  6:57pm
Danne D:

I wasn't in school anymore, so I'm not sure under what circumstance I woulda seen 'em. Maybe I was taking a bus into Port Authority?
  3:30pm
Wet Blanket:

Chris: "Years ago that Applebee's would've been a Howard Johnson's or something. Am I engaging in nostalgia?"

I think you are, Chris, if you're longing for those days. HoJo was a big-ass national chain that no doubt was a contributing factor in the closing of a great many small businesses (motels and restaurants).
