Listener comments!

  11:48am
Joe G:

what's on now?
  11:53am
tonyc:

Hi Joe,

The show hasn't started yet! It starts in seven minutes, at noon.
  11:56am
tonyc:

Joe: Don't know what's on now.....
  11:57am
iker:

hello Tony!
very sad news about Sean Bonniwell... i didn't know...
  11:57am
Doug S.:

Joe G., you are hear the 24-hour stream that is Give the Drummer Radio. When Tony's show begins in 3 minutes, his program will supersede the continuous flowing audio of the stream. Right now, Nelsinho Y Sua Orquestra is playing. Tony is up NEXT!
  11:59am
Doug S.:

Normally, your iTunes or Windows media player will provide a read-out with the artist and song info. Because Tony is about to go LIVE on the stream, the read-out is show "Tony Coulter's Show." As soon as Tony plays his first cut, the read-out will show the info for his program.
  12:00pm
Joe G:

oh thanks. i didn't look at the time too carefully. I suppose there's no playlist for the inbetween streams?
  12:00pm
tonyc:

Hello all. The Sean Bonniwell tribute portion of the show will commence in minutes.
  12:01pm
Joe G:

and just missed your comment. I thought I looked in itunes, but maybe I was too hasty and missed the track detail. anyway, happy to find the new home of GTDS!
  12:05pm
Doug S.:

Joe G., sadly there is no playlist for the stream when it's not running a set program like Tony's. If you ever hear something on the stream and want to know what it is, check your iTunes. If you miss the info, you can send email to me and I might be able to check back in the stream's log. Use this email:

Jeremy:

Don't need to be asked twice!
  12:08pm
tonyc:

Yes, Jeremy, and everyone else ... come on in!
  12:10pm
Jeremy:

The water is indeed fine.
  12:12pm
listener james from westwood:

happy tuesday all. hope everyone's 2012 is treating them kindly thus far.
  12:13pm
tonyc:

Hiya James ... and Iker too!
  12:14pm
Alf from Upstate:

Welcome back, Tony! I sure wish you were on every week.
  12:16pm
tonyc:

Thanks, Alf! Nice to see ya here....
  12:20pm
Jeremy:

Got to one of the best fuzz riffs ever on this track and the drum and organ break is so so tasty!
  12:23pm
tonyc:

Agreed!
  12:24pm
tonyc:

The Ragamuffins are pre-Music Machine....
  12:28pm
Jeremy:

Got MM's Turn on at my very first WFMU record fair, haven't missed one since but hhave rarely equaled the joy of that find.
  12:32pm
tonyc:

The original LP sounds fantastic -- no reissue, on vinyl or CD, seems to be able to capture the massiveness of the bass end of the recording.
  12:35pm
Jeremy:

Never could find a Bonniwell LP I could afford...
  12:37pm
tonyc:

Found mine in a Salvation Army thrift store, I'm glad to say. I like it even more than the first album.
  12:39pm
Jeremy:

Drums in both bands are so vicious!
  12:39pm
tonyc:

Thanks to Jason Elbogen for supplying this T.S. Bonniwell album!
  12:48pm
listener james from westwood:

must nick out for a bit; what i don't catch live i'll snag on an archive. really enjoying the tribute.
  12:48pm
Doug S.:

Vicious and drums are two words that really fit well together.
  12:48pm
Jeremy:

Crossing that double yellow line in the highway to the sky...
  12:50pm
tonyc:

James: Glad you're enjoying the tribute! Two more sets of Bonniwell to go....
  1:03pm
holland oats:

not to speak ill of the dead (i love this guy) but back in myspace days he refused to accept my friend request unless under my favorite bands i changed 'music machine' to 'bonniwell music machine' - jeez!
  1:05pm
tonyc:

Might have been for legal reasons. He relinquished the rights to the name Music Machine to get out of his contract.
  1:06pm
tonyc:

Or maybe he was just a nut....
  1:15pm
tonyc:

One more Bonniwell set, then it's on to other shores....
  1:36pm
Jeremy:

WIki entry for Day of the Wolves has track listing for the score, wonder if it is out there in entirety...
  1:38pm
tonyc:

Dunno ... would be nice!
  1:41pm
Doug S.:

Virtual white-out with the snow here in Pittsburgh. Kinda goes with the tunes.
  1:45pm
Jeremy:

how lovely is the Black Snow...never even seen that LP...know of any reissue?
  1:46pm
tonyc:

Think there is a CD reissue available through some kind of Bonniwell Web site
  1:56pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Tony, Better late than later. Happy NY.
  1:58pm
tonyc:

Hi Brian! Top o' the year to you as well....
  2:00pm
Dan in Seattle:

Enjoying the show Tony.
  2:00pm
tonyc:

Thanks, Dan!
  2:01pm
Brian in UK:

Amazing winds, horizontal rain & flooding over here. That's just in our kitchen!
Must check out Mr Bonniwell, so many things I do not know.
  2:04pm
Brian in UK:

Get out there Doug, carrot, pieces of coal. Pretending to play at making snowmen when it's really for you. Tee Hee.
  2:06pm
Ricardo Montalban:

'Ello Senor Tony! Happy Newt Year to you!
  2:07pm
tonyc:

Gnu's ear to you too, Senor M! And hola!
  2:07pm
Ricardo Montalban:

This Oriental Band sounds like Master Musicians of Jajouka. Or Joujouka. Careful how I spell it.
That's like the Music Machine/Bonniwell Music Machine schism thing.
  2:09pm
tonyc:

Actually, the Oriental Band are a bunch of Shriners! I think that may be music for their inner, secret rites...
  2:10pm
Doug S.:

The pelting, fist-sized snowflakes of last hour are now mere fluttery dandruff specks. I guess Mother Nature was digging the first half of the show, Tony.
  2:12pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I'll bet the cover's awesome!
I always wanted to join the shriners just for the fez and the chance to drive a miniature cadillac.
  2:12pm
tonyc:

Doug: Are you saying Give the Drummer Radio causes dandruff? Wouldn't spread that around...
  2:13pm
tonyc:

Ricardo: There are indeed lots of fezs....
  2:16pm
Brian in UK:

Kemal Attaturk banned the fez from Turkey in 1923. Now it is a secular state, well apart from the mouessins that wake you up at 5 o'clock.
you ain't gonna do without your fez on (S Dan - Hubert Selby)
  2:18pm
tonyc:

My cats all wear fezs....
  2:29pm
Martha:

Fezs looks like a word in Polish.
  2:31pm
tonyc:

Actually, I was wondering if it should be "fezs" or "fezes"! Spell-check doesn't like either....
  2:33pm
tonyc:

Guess spell-check-nicians don't wear fezs/fezes.
  2:41pm
tonyc:

The intro spiel to this Dictators song sounds like Andy Breckman, no?
  2:41pm
Dervish:

Tony, your show is spellbinding.
  2:42pm
tonyc:

Thanks you, Sir or Madam Dervish!
  2:45pm
Ugly Dick Nickson:

Caught Dictators at the Whisky in Hollywood years ago. HDM used to do a "spit trick," which involved hocking a contiguous thread of mucous two or three feet from his mouth, then slurping it back up. We stood up front and asked him to do the trick. "Gimme a dollar!"
  2:46pm
tonyc:

Ha!
  2:48pm
Frankenstein:

Jesus, that was good.
  2:55pm
tonyc:

Thanks for listening everybody!! Next week will be a re-broadcast of this show; the week following will be a new show. Huppy gnu's ear!
  2:56pm
pierre:

Bonjour Tony C !
Bonne Année.
  2:57pm
tonyc:

Bonjour, Pierre! Good new year to you as well....
  2:58pm
Doug S.:

  2:59pm
Doug S.:

Ach! Wayward apostrophe! Someone catch that bastard!
  2:59pm
tonyc:

Sounds great, Doug! Thanks....
  3:01pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Thanks, Tony!
Doug, the Republican Dumb-off show sounds intriguing!
3pm Pacific time, no?
  3:02pm
tonyc:

  3:16pm
tonyc:
