@Brett g Porter
Imaginary? Imaginary! Why, I was just talking myself the other day and I answered clear as a bell. How is that imaginary?!
12:16pm
Brett g Porter:
Ooops. Sorry, lads; must be me, then. Just a construct coded up in a few hundred lines of poorly thought out C++ code. What's the opposite of solipsism, where you believe that everything exists except yourself?
12:17pm
Brian en Angleterre:
Bonjour Jeffes'. Well are we going down the existential line here. I for one believe everything and nothing. That way I am not disappointed.
I used to live across the street from Brooklyn's Clay Pot.
@Brian en Angleterre
You promised you wouldn't tell!
@Artie
The soap will wash the shame of Breg g Porter's imaginary friends.

Brian en Angleterre:
I'll still with Lord Buckley's version of The Raven.
James, just got Richard Yates out of the library, he is new to me, how is he thought of? Excuse clumsy wording.
Overall, WFMU is only $32,000 from being 50% of the way to meeting its goal. It would be lovely to achieve the benchmark during today's broadcast. If you're waiting for a good time to pledge, now would be A VERY GOOD time. If we get a pledge for 32K, i will do the rest of my 2012 shows in the buff. For a pledge of 33K, I will turn off the web cam!

These are short stories, Jeff seems to have summed it up.
To all commenters and readers, D:O RADIO is at a disadvantage being pre-recorded. It's very difficult to entice and solicit your pledges and support without being able to converse in real time — and without having prizes to offer as an incentive. Please reward this brilliant show with a pledge of any amount to WFMU via the link atop this page.
Today's D:O RADIO is its last of the marathon, so this is your last chance to say THANK YOU for the great music.
James; the book is called 'Eleven Kinds of Loneliness' that's what got my attention. Sounded like an Eric Mathews record.
PS just dropped a small pledge to keep things ticking over.
@Jeff
Thanks goodness, the Daytona 500 has been delayed until 7pm. The first postponement initially pushed it back to noon today. (I would have hated inconveniencing all those race fans.)

i think mittens romney was in attendance yesterday. sad to see his day get rained on. he likes cars. he likes trees. he likes lamp.
My wife just reminded me that one of the stories in that Richard Yates collection is called "A Pretty Good Jazz Piano." Was that the actual draw, Brian?
@Jeff
I am going to go scramble and egg for my home-sick-from-school daughter. Don't play anything good until I get back...
1:22pm
Brian en Angleterre:
More like 'A Wrestler with Sharks' or 'A Glutton for Punishment' No offence.
Your title has got me thinking of Bill Evans with his snout about two inches from the keys when I saw him.
1:25pm
Brian en Angleterre:
Hey Jeff can you put up Kenny G on the playlist for when Doug gets back.
Speaking of which, has anyone here NOT read Pat Metheny's brilliant evisceration of Kenny G? I've never been a big Metheny fan, but this changed everything:
By the way, Jeff, did you know my mother's name is "Rima." In honor of my mother, can we get just one full MOUSE OF TODAY pledge? It will shoot us past the goal for this slot and make a ton of people (not including my mother) unbelievably happy.
If you pledge a full mouse, I will make your pledge eligible for prizes on my marathon show tomorrow night. To see those prizes, go here: bit.ly...
OK, Jeff, take this shit off, and by shit, I mean outrageously fantastic music. Listeners are too dumbstruck to reach for their mouses and pledge.
Dear friends,
We simply must meet our goal for this air slot. Give the Drummer Radio is a wild and wonderful innovation by WFMU, but it exists entirely due to listener support during past marathons. Your support during this marathon will ensure its existence. We are just under $300 from hitting the modest goal for this program. Please chip in and do your part.
When you make your pledge now, you do NOT have to pay it now. Click the option to receive a pledge notice later and you can pay the pledge when you are ready. We are asking for your help.
Support your local wigged-out mass-media free-jazz dispenser!
Support radio programs that play 25-minute long tracks in the middle of a fundraiser. No really, it is just this kind of adventuresome, unconventional approach to sharing music creatively that makes Destination Out, Give the Drummer Radio and WFMU worthy of your financial contributions.
I don't think it's been mentioned that BRIAN IN WATFORD, UK has made a pledge. Brian shares this intimate note with Destination Out:
"You are a breath of fresh air which is unfortunate in this current climate when it should be small club & smoky! Thanks for heppin' me to Miles' Get Up With It before Christmas."
Please ignore the sounds of telephones ringing in the background of this marvelous George Russell number. All pledges must be webbed in using the box on this page. Please make a pledge of any amount right now.
We have been holding steady at 40% for way too long. Move that pledge thermometer over a just a scoonch and you'll be doing a wonderful thing.
For all those too depressed to pledge over Sean Young arrest after trying to crash an Oscar after-party, get over it. She posted $20,000 bail. The least you can do is pledge twenty bucks.
2:49pm
Brian en Angleterre:
Artie I'm with you on the jazz, just hold fire on the soap and Doug's vertical status.
I can rustle you up some eggs form the Irma Thomas memorial chicken coop. The girls are still talking 'bout her visit.
For all those too depressed to pledge over the arrest of Lucy "Xena, Warrior Princess" Lawless's arrest, with Greenpeace activists on an oil-drilling ship off New Zealand, get over it. What good would a clean environment be without WFMU? Think about it people!
I think your erudite listeners took that as a promise and not a threat.
2:55pm
Brian en Angleterre:
Just realised what is the goal of this show. 20 people could have their cuticles pushed backed to reach the target. I know it seems like 3AM but that is no excuse not to pledge.
2:56pm
Brett g Porter:
Speaking of pledges, any idea when t-shirts get mailed? My wife is very upset that I don't own enough t-shirts, and I'm counting on WFMU to save my marriage, here.
Thanks one and all! (Though especially the noisy ones.)
See you all here and there!

Looks like it is this show re-airing today. Tuning in for a listen! Usually listening to Irene during this time, but she's out this week too. Must be post-marathon time to catch breath for everyone :)
And congratulations to WFMU on doing so well on the goal this year!!
1:59pm
Van in DC:
Wait. Xena got arrested?!
2:07pm
Van in DC:
Really liking the show. Just what I really need - to discover yet another FMU show that I really like.
Sigh.
On another note, I'm really liking "The Lost Man". It has plenty of cowbell.
