Listener comments!

  12:07am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Hi everyone!
  12:08am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

How was your RSD haul, Therese?
  12:11am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi there Therese!
WOW, didn't know if the Mynah Birds had ever released their recordings! I heard they cut a record with Motown, but the label sat on it.
Avatar 12:12am
Therese:

You're hearing my RSD haul right now, BGZ!
  12:14am
Skirkie:

Helluva storm you must of got yourself through tonight.
Avatar 12:17am
Therese:

Matt- They released a single for Record Store Day.

Skirkie- you have no idea. I've been here for three hours and just warmed up.
  12:18am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

My haul: http://friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,7892.msg192205.html#msg192205

NOT PICTURED: I scored one of the signed copies of "Put The Needle On The Record" (limited to 250) but I'm going to give it to a friend for Christmas.
  12:21am
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, special single! Finally, cooling relief for those of us who demanded Rick James, Buffalo Springfield and Steppenwolf together on a 45.
  12:22am
KP:

Hey i picked this up today myself. Sounds great.
  12:24am
KP:

Also Bloos Magoos. Never knew the used that spelling. i would name others but time and space do not permit. Overboard, again.
  12:26am
ADM:

Oh! Catching the bus! Always a good idea. The motto for all bus systems in the tri-state area should be "You'll get there."
  12:27am
Chop Scott:

Therese! Thanks for being great company during the bucket brigade and mop detail here...
  12:29am
Tri-State Bus Systems:

You're failing to take into account that we are there for the employees. The customers are just the pretext for being there for the employees.
  12:29am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Matt: That Mynah Birds single is also included on Volume Six of "The Complete Motown Singles" CD.
  12:30am
KP:

Mynah Birds! im going back tomorrow!
  12:32am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Greg Ham from Men At Work passed away too.
  12:34am
ADM:

When it comes to buses, TSBS, 'there' , 'here' and 'being' are all pretty flexible.
  12:34am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks BGZ, so that has been released on CD before. Still, a thrill to know that it's finally seen the light (the dark?) of vinyl.
  12:35am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

When I had an office job I got peeved whenever a bus operator would stop at a McDonald's/7-Eleven/etc. along the route. I would consider telling them "I have to get to work." But I always realized that they don't care because they're already at work.
  12:36am
Matt from Springfield:

If I had friended my local record store's FB, I would have known that Colin Hay of Men At Work made an appearance at that very store a few hours before I arrived. The girl at the counter said he played an acoustic set, but was in an "emotional state" because a bandmate had just died. I then discovered who Greg Ham was, and that he died on Apr 19. Just too damn many RIPs these past couple weeks...
  12:36am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Matt: You're very welcome. Gotta use this senseless knowledge filling my head for something. :)
  12:39am
Matt from Springfield:

About Earth Day being observed yesterday, and actual all the time, Kahlil Gibran has this to say:

"A truth is to be known always, to be uttered sometimes."
  12:40am
KP:

Mike Sin reminded me there was a Gene Clark single out there as well as a Dillard and Clark. Very nice day driving around in rain listening to Bill Kelly as i hunted down them ad much more. much much.
Avatar 12:43am
Therese:

Mike Sin is a trove of information! I don't how he manages to keep track of it all while simultaneously maintaining such a dapper appearance.
  12:50am
Matt from Springfield:

No decent place to wash your hands when walking around in Manhattan, that's for sure.
  12:50am
Skirkie:

Oh so there's another Joe in JC Heights. Who'd a thought?
  12:52am
KP:

He's like the Werewolf of london. His hair is perfect. and his knowledge is deep.
Avatar 12:52am
Therese:

I usually carry hand sanitizer with me, but I that didn't make it into my bag...
  12:53am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Pretend you're on tour. Carry hand wipes. :)
  1:00am
KP:

Best "get"? Buck Owens coloring book with flexi disc. My life is complete.
Avatar 1:02am
Therese:

I got that as well, KP! Buck has an exciting life.
  1:04am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

The store I went to was out of the coloring books. You can order the coloring books (sans flexi) for a few bucks off the Buck Owens website.

I passed on those Mick Rock tins. That was a tough decision. I'm a total sucker for those Warner Brothers "Side by Side" split 7-inch singles.
Avatar 1:04am
Therese:

Oh, and I think you've stumbled upon Mike Sin's song for next year's Hoof & Mouth...
  1:07am
Warren Z.:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Werewolf of Mike Sin
  1:13am
KP:

And i happen to know King Penguin is not doing anything that night.
  1:14am
KP:

Sans flexi? Never!
  1:15am
KP:

i was in one store and literally the guy in front of me bought the last Dillard & Clark.
  1:23am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Is "The Submarine" prone to leaks?
  1:27am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

One of the ways I judge the merit of a record store: where they file the Terry Malts, Matt Bianco and Franz Ferdinand records.
  1:39am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

If Steve Albini had been in Mr. Bungle they would have sounded like this.
Avatar 1:39am
Therese:

The Submarine is less prone to leaks, despite being closer to the roof. But water always wins...
Avatar 1:43am
Therese:

My brain cannot process Steve Albini in Mr. Bungle.
  1:52am
Anthony Kiedis:

Me fucking neither.
  1:52am
KP:

i got white hills today too! Not record store but obviously awesome.
  1:58am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I hope this is on the right speed 'cause it sounds awesome!
  2:06am
BadGuyZero:

Ghost/Mastodon show + RSD wiped me out.
  2:17am
KP:

Oops. looking at this list ABBA would have been nice for mrs. KP. Tomorrow is another day!
Avatar 2:19am
Therese:

I was looking for that as well, KP. That and the No Bunny eluded me...
  2:19am
KP:

But she loves Gene Clark!
  2:22am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I got the Nobunny only because someone at the store told me to send them a list of what I wanted so they could set them aside. I had them pull a handful of items that were must buys.
  2:25am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

About six weeks ago I got ahold of an order form one of the distributors sent out. It really helped me in my decision process as it had more info about the releases than the RSD site ultimately had. It had the suggested list price which was great for creating a RSD budget. If I get my hands on one for future RSD release dates I'll share a link to it here. :)
Avatar 2:25am
Therese:

Strangely enough, I overheard a lot of people asking for Phish. And they were all disappointed, the poor hippies...
  2:26am
KP:

i heard a store owner on phone today profusely thanking somebody associated with it. He sold out of every last piece he had and said people were getting all kinds of stuff in addition. i bought a boxs set just not walk out empty handed. It was great.
  2:32am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I really wanted the ESG 7" but it was a regional release. None of the stores down here got them. We did, however, get the Trouble in Mind "4-Way Cover" split 7". So there's that. :shrugs:
Avatar 2:36am
Therese:

Wow, I went to 6 shops and none had the Trouble in Mind split!
  2:36am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

If Glenn Danzig had been in The Buzzcocks...
  2:39am
Scuttle:

Ugh awesome set!!
Avatar 2:39am
Therese:

THAT is a collaboration I can get behind.
  2:40am
KP:

Looks like i lucked into something with the Lennon Bag. Not that would bother reselling anything. It's a nicely put together set.
  2:41am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Just as long as he doesn't pull a stunt like he did at Fun Fun Fun Fest. Shedanzigans!
Avatar 2:41am
Therese:

Thank you, Scuttle!
  2:44am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I'll check around and see if there's an extra Trouble in Mind 7" floating around for you.
  2:44am
KP:

Gin Blossoms.
  2:45am
KP:

Gil Bey Clark.
  2:46am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Gregarious Bullfighters
  2:49am
KP:

Gram Barker and the Rumor.
  2:50am
KP:

Guy Bombardo.
  2:59am
KP:

Final tally, 12 items. nothing post-mid '70s and proud of it, sort of.
  3:01am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I'll have to listen to next week's show via the archives. I'll be in San Antonio getting my face melted by a bunch of black metal bands. Will be back in two weeks to kick-off my birthday week! :D
  3:01am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Goodnight Therese! See you all later. :)
  3:02am
KP:

Have good time BGZ.
  12:49am
drr:

chiming in long after the show, but is not "I'll Be Good To You" way better than you remember? Great song.
