	6:32pm Ike: I agree that Parks & Recreation is a great TV comedy. The ratings are not too great, but happily NBC has renewed it for next season simply because they are pathetic right now and don't have anything that does better.
	6:33pm public defender: good jurors who could actually be fair are always getting kicked off of juries because they think that jury selection is the moment to stand up for the principles they believe in. If you feel strongly about drugs, for example, keep it to yourself, tell the judge you can follow his instructions, and then acquit. its always the right wingers who tell the judge they can be fair and follow the law.

	6:40pm Danne D: We were talking around the office about jury duty one-time and I talked about how scary it was being a witness in a case. The one co-worker disagreed saying jury duty was much scarier and went on a bit about it. I then asked her "What, were you on like the Gotti jury or something?". Turns out, YES, she had been picked for the jury and she literally was on her knees begging the judge to let her off the case (she cited that she was a single mother and sole support for her daughter) and they were still very reluctant to let her off the jury. They finally relented but it was a very close call apparently as they didn't want to let anyone off that jury.

	6:49pm giraffe-o: It's ponderous and fatiguing to attempt to carry on a conversation with people who keep asking you to repeat yourself. Dumbass should try to pull this crap on a judge, see how long they put up with it.
	6:51pm dale: was on a murder trial back in the 80s. we were impanelled (?) one night and had to stay at some hotel out by laguardia. they took us to some all you could eat chinese place first and you could tell that it was the best part of all the court officers lives as they probably got double time for sitting outside the hotel rooms. when i went back to work my boss wanted me to give him my $14 a day pay as he had to pay my salary at the same time.

	9:13pm public defender: Jury nullification is when the jury renders a verdict based on their own conscience, whether or not that comports with the facts they find in the case or the relevant law. For instance, in a drug case a jury could decide to vote not guilty despite the fact that the prosecutor had proven beyond a reasonable doubt that a defendant possessed or sold drugs. In this way, regular people have the power to limit the incredibly damaging effects of our broken criminal justice system. If jurors were informed of the lengthy sentences that attach to these kinds of cases, they would have even more reason to vote their conscience. That is one reason the courts hide the sentencing process from the trial jury.
