	6:09pm Philo Gristle: @Mike It just came out from Criterion and those tend to be in demand. Great film, not much to do with the band or the album tho.

	6:16pm Philo Gristle: It's worth the wait (though it's been close to 20 years since I've seen it!), a realistic look at the mods & rockers scene -- totally opposite end of Ken Russell's version of TOMMY.
	6:20pm Mike East: I just watched Tommy a few months ago. It kinda made no goddamn sense to me. I liked the music though, and some of the imagery. I've been hunting a copy of The Who Sellout for a long time now.
	6:24pm Philo Gristle: I was never a huge fan of Who, but I keep going back to them... I'm with you on Tommy (even though the director is one of my all time faves).
	6:28pm dale: there is a documentary on quadrophenia on crackle (on my roku box). really good. then i watched tommy, which was a huge turd.
	6:30pm Mike Sin: Pete Townsend's long works are really way too conceptual for film interpretation without the director taking some liberties... That said, the 1979 Quadrophenia is actually a strong interpretation with a good amount of depth. But, the themes explored in Quadrophenia are well-worn and timeless. Comapre the English "Quadrophenia" to the US "Saturday Night Fever."

	6:44pm Mike East: @PG - yes I did. I guess I've been on a time travel kick. I've been burning through Dr. Who, too. The best scene is when Kirk is explaining to the cop in 1930 that Spock is Chinese and his ears are like that because of an accident when he was a kid.
	6:45pm kat330: @Mike: In honor of last week's guest's mentor, check out Theodore Sturgeon's "Star Trek" offerings whenever you have the chance. "Amok Time" was the one with the Vulcan mating ritual, and he also wrote "Shore Leave."
	6:47pm Mike East: @kat330 - I will! I think I've actually seen the Vulcan mating ritual episode. Its pretty great that our modern culture gives us access to all this stuff so readily.
	6:49pm Philo Gristle: Thanks Dale -- I'll check it out, sounds very interesting. Best time travel flick I've seen in recent years was a small Spanish film called TIMECRIMES. Creepy and odd with a very unlikeable protagonist. If you read science fiction, you can't beat Barrington Bayley's FALL OF CHRONOPOLIS for pulpy time travel excess...
