Listener comments!

  6:12pm
Brooklyn:

It's all happening here!
  6:17pm
Mike East:

I work in Hells Kitchen. Come by some time, I'll buy you lunch, Chris. 55th and 11th.
  6:18pm
Mike East:

wiki says hells kitchen starts at 34th
  6:24pm
green mountain man mark:

I think only people 40 and above listen to this show. Or people 20 something playing Edward 40 hands.
  6:26pm
Mike East:

sorry to kill your theory mark, but I'm 30. I spent the majority of my 20's in Brooklyn, so I'd probably be a good person to answer this question...unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I haven't seen Girls.
  6:28pm
green mountain man mark:

I am a big fan of Lena Dunham but probably won't watch Girls.
  6:30pm
amEdeo:

I have met 20-something people who definitely are living in variations of that world. Obviously it's a television show, but there's gotta be people with lives that are pretty close to the characters in the show.
  6:33pm
Eric:

Is there anything on that show that seems so extraordinary?
  6:33pm
Mike East:

sorry, I'd call, but I'm working and I wouldn't want to have to put you on hold. Sorry to play the part of knowitall@aol.com - it didn't seem like he was going to check in.
  6:35pm
Bucktown Billy:

amEdeo is right. I lived/partied with those people for a while—it's real for some, but most people don't have access to that lifestyle. Then I moved to Red Hook. It's dope.
  6:36pm
Eric:

The part where the british hippie chick elopes with the douche bag venture capitalist is pretty far fetched.
  6:36pm
20-something girl in brooklyn:

I think girls is really accurate!! your male callers are so off. they describe dating perfectly. in your 20s dating is now texting someone to see if they want to come over. or what the ny times called "one step below a date, and one step above a high-five." in their recent writeup about the end of courtship:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/13/fashion/the-end-of-courtship.html
  6:37pm
Danne D:

I miss the realism of shows like Seinfeld where all of them had cars in Manhattan
  6:37pm
amEdeo:

Hahahaha!
  6:38pm
Eric:

Urban Outfitters is for wannabe hipsters who are not even close.
  6:39pm
Danne D:

Chris makes Urban Outfitters sound like the updated Brookstone
  6:42pm
Bucktown Billy:

will comply
  6:43pm
Danne D:

The fun thing about FMU gatherings is that you realize Jersey peoples generally don't know much about Brooklyn geography and vice versa
  6:43pm
Franken NewYork:

WilCo= Will Comply
  6:47pm
monica:

hot bkln nabes are SO pricey and hard to come by now that brooklynites are moving to the upper east side and east village of manhattan for cheaper rents (WSJ story about this a few months back).
  6:49pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Some History Channel show mentioned Long Island wants to secede from New York and become the 51st state. Would Brooklyn join them?
  6:50pm
amEdeo:

People in Brooklyn *do* make fun of LI!... or at least they used to. In fact, I grew up in Brooklyn and it took me years to realize that it was part of Long Island, because people around me made fun of LI so much.
  6:50pm
Danne D:

Awesome call, good job!
  6:53pm
green mountain man mark:

The only place in Brooklyn I have been is Coney Island. How bout a corn weenie!
  6:57pm
Mike East:

The thing I hate about Brooklyn is all the people from the Midwest who think they are from Brooklyn because they lived there for 2 years.
  6:59pm
Danne D:

Pabst Blue Ribbon: Newark New Jersey (at the time of this ad)
  6:59pm
Danne D:

(maybe)

Anyway thanks Chris :)
  6:59pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Got any of that banquet beer?
