YLT provides a soothing "Ohm" to me! Without resistance!

Evening Therese!

Everything that Matt said. (I hate when he beats me to the punch).

Hi Therese! I hope you had a fantastic birthday!
Avatar 12:14am

Does a lack or a surplus of Ohms (not to be confused w/ volts) prevent Om?

Too tired to come up w/ anything else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am
Matt from Springfield:

I suppose too many Ohms (too much resistance) prevents an Om...
Hey NGH and BGZ!

A couple of nights ago I saw current Swans percussionist Thor Harris playing drums in a noise/math rock band that included a member of The Fleshlights.

BGZ, Please tell me there's a really nicely packaged version on day 1.
Avatar 12:29am
BadGuyZero:

Do we look like you expected us to?
Avatar 12:32am
BadGuyZero:

@Droll: My understanding is that it'll be released digitally on Wednesday. Vinyl copies that also include a copy on CD are pressed and ready for sale. I don't know if physical sales will be at their upcoming shows only or if copies will be available via their soon to be re-launched website.

BGZ, LP+CD sounds like the way to go. I hope it has a 1,000,000 pages of liner notes!
Thanks for the tip, I put that on my to-do list for Wednesday.

Hi amEdeo! Yes, great avatars here!
Your blue lady is good, and I like Therese's premium cover "I Get Around"--it's her, but graphic-novelized!
Avatar 12:39am
BadGuyZero:

Airbnb is great! I used it to get rooms for my recent visits to Denver and Chicago. I'm hooked!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am
Matt from Springfield:

I like an LP + digital tracks--since I upload new CDs into my computer right away, but like the physical media and liner notes. (The CD is really just my "backup").
Avatar 12:41am

Is calling oneself a "Masshole" kinda like how I call myself "a jackass of all trades"???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am

MASSholes!
Jimmy Fallon & Rachel Dratch's characters "Sully & ZaZU" I always referred to as "the Bahston Asshales"--that's a new one for me!

Vieques is where the old Navy artillery/bombing range was located, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am
Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: I've gotten into Jamaican cuisine since finally finding an authentic place relatively closeby. The Scotch bonnets are apparently what makes "jerk" stronger than mere curry sauce. How long before you can get another crop in?
Avatar 12:46am
BadGuyZero:

St. Patrick a mongoose? Now you're just talking crazy talk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am
Matt from Springfield:

Vieques/Roosevelt Roads was the whole Navy complex--finally closed once local opponents applied enough political pressure. I don't know how much has been cleaned up and opened to tourism, but I imagine it's wonderful weather and scenery there.

MfS, There's probably nothing but a Superfund site left at the old Navy complex. Totally uninhabitable.

I spent HOURS on that site- you can rent TREEHOUSES! And HOUSEBOATS!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am
Matt from Springfield:

@Therese: I had a great experience a few weeks ago--leaving work in the dark, I drove home via a road that passes a massive oil terminal with storage tanks off of I-95, while XM played "Jungleland". Always an amazing listen, but with it being cold, dark, and driving by oil tanks, it felt so Jersey! I was thrilled! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am

Hello Mark.
$1 sounds about right for making a cool avatar!

Was it at the Iris Records booth at the Grove Street PATH station?

That cover looks like it should be on a Mercyful Fate record, not some pub rock combo's.

BGZ- No, from some random guy on the Hoyt Street in Brooklyn.
Avatar 1:05am
fred von helsing:

"jackass of all trades" now that is a handy phrase! Maybe overprint it on yer business card with invisible ink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am
Matt from Springfield:

@Droll: WMFU, as WXHD is now known.
Avatar 1:06am
BadGuyZero:

@Droll: The hosts of both places I stayed pretty much let me have run of the house. I was able to make my own meals instead of eating out every meal. That meant more money for buying records! And for $35-$42 both places were steals. Nice perk is that you can generally find a place in an area/neighborhood you'd like to explore. When i was in Chicago I only used public transit twice: from the airport and to the Amtrak station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am
Matt from Springfield:

Fred von H, Willkommen!
Maybe publish a short description of what you do, and have slightly different colored ink for letters in between, spelling out "jackass of all trades".
Avatar 1:09am

BGZ, I couldn't help but notice a few offers are disproportionate to others in the same locale. Are these naive/new sellers, or scams?

This soooo beats Hilton Garden Inn, but sadly these are not legit hotels in the sense I can write them off as a business travel expense like the Hilton.
Avatar 1:16am
KP:

Where was I?
Avatar 1:17am
BadGuyZero:

@BGZ: I think it's people who aren't that into having strangers come stay with them. Sort of like "if someone wants to pay $XXX a night I'll let them sleep in the spare bedroom."

Look for the hosts that have the most reviews. Those are generally the best deals and most accommodating hosts. Lots of photos and a guide to nearby restaurants/shops/points of interest is a good indicator too.

@Therese: Have you seen the cinematic version of "Les Miserables" that's currently playing in movie theaters?
Avatar 1:21am

Therese, that avatar compels me to tell you my wife to this day calls you the "TV Lady." That goes back to the first Radio Vision day, when you were the moderator. She was sure it was on TV somewhere, which i guess was sort of correct.
Avatar 1:23am

There's a lady in Seattle who will make a quilt out of your old concert shirts. She also makes other cool metal-themed quilts. Her business is called Quiltsryche.

@Matt: Born in Denton, TX. Have lived in North Texas my entire life except the few years I lived in Seattle in the 90s. I would love for 2013 to be the last year I live in this state. Get me outta this idiocracy! Maybe I should launch a Kickstarter campaign to that end.

Kickstarter is, after all, the Make-A-Wish Foundation for adults who do not have terminal illnesses.
