That was an amusing pic. Speaking as a political realist only, and as someone who's never touched a gun: I guess they had the picture stored up in case guns became a campaign issue, but never needed till after Newtown. (If only they were as good at policy as they are at campaigning, sigh.)

The fact that in the unphotoshopped original photo he is shooting straight forward must mean it was target shooting, not upward-aim skeet shooting. That wisp coming out of the top is a training-wheels thing (pressure release feature) that gun shooting places offer if the shooter is a n00b who might fall backwards or break into tears at the recoil.

Bruno Gerussi's moustache:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

Anyone know what gauge that gun might be? As for recoil, I've shot 12 and (20-something) gauge shotguns before; 20-somethings are managable but harder to hit a target. 12 gauge has massive recoil--but it's like artillery, you *will* hit the target.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

@moustaches: Get a comb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
G:

Like I said, no gun expert here, but I read somewhere that people should know say it's a 12 gauge
  3:20pm

Matt...not sure of the gauge, but interestingly, I read earlier that Obama is shooting from a range built for George W. Bush...by a gun club from Newtown - http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/social-issues/raising-adam-lanza/obamas-skeet-shooting-draws-constructive-advice-from-gun-industry-group/

G:

Doesn't bother me, I work online. But they always say the snow will be bigger than it comes to be.

However, having lived in NYC since 79 my experience is that we *will* often go weeks or months of winter with minimal snow, then sometimes have one huge storm in Feb or early March. For ex., there was a huge 2+ foot blizzard during NYU spring break week in 93.

When it snows enough in NY that people have to dig their cars out, do they then "save" the shoveled out space with old chairs and a 2x4?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
Caryn:

Last week, we had a day of snowfall resulting in 2 feet of snow coming down in a few hours, while the surrounding areas had about 1 foot of snow, max. The tv weather maps had a nice spot around our city, talking about how, for some reason, just that area had had way more snow than anywhere else in the southern part of the country. There's supposed to be wave after wave of snow fronts moving in for the next couple of days, so we'll see if we can top last week. (But this won't be as centralised, and thus will be less strange on the weather map.)

@Droll: In Baltimore they put lawnchairs in the spot. In Brooklyn, you just let it go and hope for the best, unless you are really aggressive, and ready to have an actual verbal argument at likely high volume, or car keying, etc etc. I've seen arguments over spaces after a big snow.

I'm parking my car where it can and needs to be tomorrow morning, after "alternate side" ends, and it ain't moving till at least Monday.

At the end they have a shot of Phil Collins with his arm on the table holding his jaw up (literally), and next to him is Steve Hackett motionless with a big grin.
