I heard a story that when the first Europeans came to Bali and they played European classical music to the Balinese, the Balinese considered their music to be superior.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- you mean their own (the Balinese), I presume?

You just can't beat the sustained resonances (high & low), as well as th alternation of speeds of this music. Glad you're back Donna.

...a thing about European Classical Music (...too broad, but you know what I mean)
- is the Rhythms are Military-derived, & too aggressive & rectilinear-sounding to other Peoples, I have read...
...I think that as every Continent & Culture has its' own Metaphysical Conceptions & Systems
- *just so* does each have its' own Scales, Tonalities & Rhythms;
- Musical Scales often have a direct correlation to Metaphysical Systems...

...'European' Music is *certainly* 'behind the curve in terms of Rhythmic sophistication
- but, I imagine a Native Shamanic historical sub-strata to Ancient Music in Europe too...
