Hell Dave, if I didn't live in Pt. Washington in this
godforsaken LI hole and was close to the station I'd
bring my Velvets CDs up! Ah well. I'm sure you can
dig some up. White Light White Heat deluxe is coming
out Dec. and boy is it expensive. Oy vey. this a rough
day for me being a massive Lou and V.U. fanatic.

...what's so great about the Beach Boys putting Chuck Berry together w/ the Four Freshman? Someone had to do it 1st. & now we accept it as Basic - as obvious & fundamental. A huge %age of what is heard @ FMU wouldn't be what it is w/out VU?Lou.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm

Some of those prog groups put out actual 45 edits of 8-10 minute songs, even edits of 3-4 minutes from an album-side track. For crazed completists only, imo.

I like Lou Reed. On a frantic rushed drive back from Pittsburgh to NJ many years ago, I was too stressed to mess with the radio and my tape of New York played over and over. I never really got tired of it.

Not everybody's favorite, but meant a lot to some of us.
Avatar 9:19pm

@Cheri: Alas, no.
@Holly: I did, thanks. Went pumpkin-picking with the family.

When I was a kid my Mom had this freaky 8-track from Three Dog Night with some creepy fucking people in an emergency room as the album art, and a big band-aid over the picture. My experience was that every change in roommates would lead to the disappearance of something. Fortunately, I've been married 28 years and the only record that's gone missing in that time was the copy of Trapped In The Body of A White Girl by Julie Brown that I played once too often in the presence of my wife.

Snakefinger, what a wonderful signature guitarist, you can spot his playing in just a few notes.
My copy of The Spot was stolen by a roommate because they hated hearing it so much. I miss Snakefinger.

G, I think appearing pompous is part of the job description for prog rockers. For some reason it really works when Queen does it. Queen is over the top compared to any GG arrangement, and yet one look like conservatory drop-outs, and the other are the high-water mark for glam.
