Hi Irene,
Lovely to have you back, hope you had a nice break. Hello to one and all

Good afternoon, Irene. Super selection from Velvet Underground.

Hi Irene and everyone! Love this Kurt Vile.

Hi Everybody! Glad to be here with you all today after a week off.
  12:13pm
don:

beautiful photo, makes me think of Tom Verlaine's 'Red Leaves'...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks for the complements on the pic! I snapped that a few years ago at the NYS Sheep & Wool Festival in The Catskills. Didn't get to do much leaf peepin' this year, so this'll have to do.

saw Emiliana at Airwaves. Very nice! Her new album has changed direction from ballads to some more danceable stuff.

my favorite TYA song. such a beautiful tune.

quite possibly the ultimate love song

been a long time since I've heard this one!

These later 10 years after songs are so epic.

Never heard but really like

That whole Cricklewood Green album was top notch. RIP Alvin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
DCE:

I'll have to revisit that album; I remember thinking it wasn't so great when I got it back in the early 90s. Haven't heard it since!

ahhh, ya cut the fade back in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Irene Trudel:

Yeah, I was talking with DJ Stan about Ten Years After and remembering a time really liked them. Criklewood Green was definitely a decent album worth revisiting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Irene Trudel:

Sorry @MenfussMike! I forgot all about it.
Avatar 12:27pm
KP:

Anyone hear the post-Alvin Lee Ten Years After. They sounded amazingly like records, you realize it really was a band thing.
Avatar 12:28pm
MenfussMike:

you can always replay it ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
mariano:

Heart Full of Leaves is gorgeous... sadly, I'm not as familiar with RH as I should be, he's from my day and all.
  12:31pm
don:

Have seen the current TYA; Gooch is a great guitar player, maybe a little more flash and slick than Alvin, but they did a great job; for me, Leo has always been the glue..
Avatar 12:33pm
MenfussMike:

TYA double cd live at filmore is insane.
Avatar 12:35pm
Ike:

Cool that you mentioned Fringe, I especially liked seasons 2 & 3 of that show. Another sci-fi show that did the alternating cast concept in its 3rd season was Farscape. A few parallels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Irene Trudel:

Guess I didn't realize TYA reformed. Never say never, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Mike East:

we rented some props to Fringe. I've never seen it myself, but I believe its been recommended to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Irene Trudel:

@Ike, I'm a big fan of both, but missed Fringe the first time around, having only seen it sporadically over the initial run. Haven't caught up to more than the first season, but it's nice that all the episodes are on Netflix for me to watch as I please.
  12:39pm
don:

TYA still performs, mostly in Europe, w/ 3 originals-Ric, Chick and Leo- plus Joe Gooch on gtr/vocs.
Avatar 12:40pm
MenfussMike:

yea, shame they could not put aside their differences. TYA was one band I was too young to catch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Irene Trudel:

@Mike East, Fringe is very addictive, especially if you like convoluted plotlines and story threads.
Avatar 12:41pm
Ike:

Fringe starts slow, to me it seemed like a bad X-Files knock-off at first (I'm an avowed hater of XF's bogus, dopey mythology). Fortunately Fringe found a much more interesting tack at the end of season 1.

Also, Fringe showrunner is behind new show "Almost Human."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Mike East:

I'll check it out on the netflix!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm

I heard JJ Abrams on npr talking about that show last night

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
mariano:

@Ike: good to know about Fringe, I gave up on it a couple of episodes into season 1, thinking, like you said, that it was a pale imitation of X-Files. I'll have to give it another shot now, thanks!
Avatar 12:52pm
Cecile:

I've been thinking about getting into that, but made the mistake of watching a few Arrow episodes this weekend. Now I'm hooked.
Avatar 12:54pm
Ike:

Oh yeah Cecile, Arrow is another one that gets a LOT better as it goes along. Many like the early episodes but I thought they suuuuuuuuuucked. The lead guy's acting skills improve a lot. He's just a walking talking block of wood in the pilot.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Sean in Bristol UK:

@Ike, Fringe is available on Netflix over here, I need something to fill the huge void when Breaking Bad finished. Is this a series where patience is a plus which I can do. I find some series really gets going once a you have got a few episodes under the belt
Avatar 12:56pm
Chris from DC:

Ooh, just in time for Hawkwind.
Avatar 12:57pm
Cecile:

I have liked it from minute one. And I"m up to episode 5 or 6 and it's really starting to get rolling.

I just thought he was kind of dazed. I would be too, if I had just gotten off this crazy island after 5 years...

Hawkwind, nice, my friend tried to talk me into seeing them in Bristol last week but alas I did not go
Avatar 12:58pm

Cecile, it gets even better. Congrats on getting into a non-procedural TV show, ha ha.
Avatar 1:01pm
Cecile:

thanks!
I'm also into the trainwreck that is Sleepy Hollow and Agents of Shield.

Althought I keep hoping for a crossover that will never happen: "Agents of the Shield"

"Vic, you and half of the Defenders robbed the Scrull's money train and are blackmailing Nick Fury with high school yearbook pictures?"

OK, those the overlap on those two shows must be...me. :D

Hi Irene!!! Thanks for playing Black Angel's Death Song earlier! Are you coming to Satellite Of Love-A tribute to Lou Reed this wed 11/20 9pm Rodeo Bar? I am doing a song on my own!! Yikes!!! Any chance you could announce the gig? It's gonna be good! Best to you!!
Avatar 1:24pm

this isn't that other Lake band from the late 70s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
Irene Trudel:

Hey Banjo Lisa! Nice to hear from you. Didn't know about the gig but I'm happy to mention it. I probably won't be able to make it but it sounds like fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Irwin:

Irene, I understand your husband does not like this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
Irene Trudel:

Not true Irwin! At least that's not what he tells me. This BS&T album is something we found we both loved early on in our relationship.
  1:35pm
Mike Fun:

This song sounds like it should be a Nick Drake/Scott Walker collaboration.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Irwin:

Ask him. I know he loves the album, but he recently made a very disparaging comment about that particular song. Of course, that song/arrangement is not typical of CIFTTM.
Avatar 1:47pm
Cecile:

song related = sucky

At least for that kind of band.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm

Olivia Chaney, sweet
  1:52pm
don:

Olivia Chaney-what a glorious voice and she sounds just as good live...
Avatar 1:53pm
Droll:

Cecile, I think it's great when a band experiments, even when that means experimental bands start trying out "pop" music. I liked that stretch by BS&T, too.
  1:53pm
Peter K.:

It's true -- I love that BS&T album, but "The Modern Adventures..." is my least favorite track. Although I will admit that I liked it the first 200 or so times I heard it.
  1:56pm
van:

Wow, for a minute there I thought I was hearing Sharon Van Etten
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
Irene Trudel:

Oh well Peter, I stand corrected. It's still a favorite of mine. We can agree to disagree.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm

Hope I didn't instigate any domestic disunity.
