"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Good morning. Got anything special planned today?
Avatar 6:04am
John Allen:

thanks for the setup, Ken. We sure do, Robert and Jack Kidney from the Numbers Band in the 8am hour. Stay right there...
  6:11am
P-90:

OMG, that rant is priceless, was it a real comment from a listener, or a jest? The REALLY funny thing is that it's actually a great description of what FMU does...one man's protest is another man's tribute, I guess...

Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, John and good morning to you, KFHP and P-90. Such a sweet way to start.

"...and you talk about friends of like Delaney and Bonnie...like we're supposed to remember who they are......free jazz stuff that just grates on my nerves... you called it Dub, to what, be cool? (and) you seem to fetishize the whole folk thing too....." I'm having a seizure laughing

Good morning y'all.

I know you've had that quote up on your page for a while, I usually don't listen live, I like the Pop-up format for the archives, and don't see your page that often. So this was a revelation this morning, it's like an early Christmas present

Ken From Hyde Park:

@P-90 - The guy ended it on a positive note, anyway.
  6:34am
P-90:

And good morning to all. @Ken: I'm sure Mr. Belock appreciated the plug

Nice... A little tribute to Aube.

I imagine the geezer who said free jazz really 'grated on his nerves' is loving this! -I am just thinking about him
Avatar 7:51am
Chris from DC:

Ha, I would love to hear his take on Aube.
  7:53am
P-90:

Ha! Aren't we all guilty of assuming the "geezer" was male? Coulda been a female, right? Is this an unconscious display of sexism?

OK, OK, I think we all know it was a dude.

Actually Aube died in September, apparently. Word only seems to have gotten out last week.
