My heart's pretty satisfied. I've got a hungry belly, though...almost time for soup.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Speaking of Bruce, is Bruce Springsteen playing at the Super Bowl halftime show? Google search shows he played it in 2009, so maybe he's had enough of that.

What do you think of Rachel Maddow's theory:
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/maddow-nj-bridge-scandal-was-political-revenge-but-maybe-not-for-the-reason-you-think%E2%80%A6/

In 2010, Christie took the unprecedented step of refusing to reappoint a New Jersey Supreme Court justice for another term, which set off the New Jersey Democrats, who got back at Christie by shooting down all the other Supreme Court justice nominees he put forward.

So when a Republican member of the New Jersey Supreme Court came up for reappointment last year, NJ Senate Democrats promised to make it a brutal fight, so Christie decided to stop the reappointment. He was furious at Senate Democrats, and held a press conference getting really angry with them.

That press conference, expressing much anger with Senate Democrats, was held on August 12, 2013, a day before the Bridgegate e-mail was sent. And Fort Lee, the town that got backed up, is part of the legislative district represented by Loretta Weinberg. The leader of the Senate Democrats.

Surprised the media hasn't touched very much on Wildstein's "Wally Edge" persona

There was a mayor of Garfield who was 18, I believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Mike East:

@Ken - I don't believe so. I know he was rehearsing in the city last week, though, so its possible. We have a piano going to the superbowl, but its definitely not for the boss.

Per Wikipedia I am wrong - Harry Zikas was 21 when he was elected mayor of Alpha (youngest ever).

James Kern, the current mayor of Pohatcong is 24 - was 22 when inaugurated as mayor.

Blog is a massive understatement.
PoliticsNJ, now Politickernj is pretty much the most prominent political website in New Jersey. He kept his anonymity as Wally Edge for over a decade - it was a massive mystery in NJ politics.

Christie said in press conference he hadn't seen Wildstein in a long time, but there is [reportedly] a photo of Crhistie at the bridge during the traffic jam with Wildstein.

What's the point of being governor if you can't impose your will on the streets of your kingdom? He was elected by the people, and therefore, he gets to do what he wants. That's democracy, right?

(Newark is bigger btw - 103rd in area in the state. Jersey City is 133rd) :)

Bruno Mars is tyhe Super Bowl halftime show, which doesn't really explain the piano.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Mike East:

@Carmichael - Its not for him...but I don't see any mention of the person it IS for, so I think maybe I'm not supposed to say anything.

chili peppers playing the big game (super bowl is a trademark we can't mention) as well

Don't you think the Republicans' ultimate goal re education is to dismantle public schools? Vouchers, anyone?
Avatar 6:35pm
Carmichael:

The Republicans' goal is to dismantle everything that happened for the last (soon to be) 8 years. They have no other plans, as far as I can tell.

I went on the Fox News mobile site a couple of days ago. The Christie story was buried beyond findability at best, absent at worst.

The New York Times regional section, which largely ignored the story since it broke in September (The Record has been following it continually) has led with 6-7 'Bridgegate' stories each day lately, many very scathing.

Reality, as usual, probably lies somewhere in the middle.

what he said just now. i always wondered how closing four lanes of traffic punishes anyone OTHER than the drivers who use the bridge.

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

There's a race on to define the story, and this time Christie has been losing the race, and has seemed like the last one to realize he's been losing it.

The story's been persisting in the papers since September, and Christie has been trying to bluster and ignore it away for four months. Four months it has taken him to realize it's not going away.
