Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from January 17, 2014 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Stevel:

There's great stuff that I've listened to countless times that I find it unnecessary to listen to often, if at all. Still, it was great stuff and, as UM says, worthy of that attention.

Perhaps there is a limit to how many times you can listen to one song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm

It's funny, listening to your old shows, Michael, when you were constantly playing requests.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Jeff Golick:

I feel you, @UM. And I sincerely love the idea of loving the thing regardless of -- or apart from -- baggage/context/cultural-barnacle-accretion. You do it so well every week! There are just some things that, for me, resist this unencumbered view; can't do it/see it/hear it cleanly, anew.

And as @Stevel puts it above, I think I hit my limit with CSN. I can still sing all of those songs word for word in my head. I get it, I got it. Good.

Before you go, this is the first time I stumbled on your show and you're my new favorite FMU DJ. Which I suppose makes you my favorite DJ. No pressure though.
