NGHills..what happened to the South Massapequa moors?
  7:31pm
LovecraftDude888:

wow Josephine Foster looks like a proto Karen Dalton type...or something. strike that..reverse it. that's my type of woman right der
Avatar 7:31pm
northguineahills:

Well, technically there are moors south of Massapequa. ngh is purely fictional.
  7:32pm
LovecraftDude888:

hrmm actual moors? wasn't aware of that. I know the area in general...of course. Sunrise Hwy...so exciting. one record shop and one gun shop over there....spitting distance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm

lamin has a very nice soundcloud page, just sayin...

LovecraftDude888:

re: Niblock...wow,..didn't even know there was a College O' Staten Island!---Lamin, meant to ask some of the really obscure on these shows...do the artists send out things or do you generally research on your own? or both? I mean the really avant-garde or experimental newer artists...
Avatar 7:35pm
northguineahills:

The area around the coast south of Massapequa I'd consider a moor.
  7:37pm
LovecraftDude888:

yeah I guess it kinda qualifies.
  7:38pm
some other guy:

I just tuned in so I dunno about the previous working/no-working comments, but getting only left channel on the 128k stream here.

What's all this about Moors on Long Island?
Avatar 7:39pm

north guinea hills is fictional? another illusion shattered. life is dust in the wind.

LovecraftDude888:

(God I want a grant to do nutty avant-garde music!)
  7:41pm
Jo Thello:

First East Newbridge, now North Guinea Hills, only fictions in the end. Is there any part of your United States that is real?
Avatar 7:42pm

I'm getting both channels at 91.1 FM. Also tested pop-up player, that's also fine.

it's back...stereo. quadrophonic to come. man i used to have Altec 4.1 speakers that were great but they died...alas
Avatar 7:47pm
Ike:

@Jo Thello, mostly the U.S. is fictional if you count the vast, proud fictions existing in the minds of many gullible patriots, but I assure you that Newark, New Jersey, is all too real.
  7:48pm
LovecraftDude888:

so was Paterson when my dad worked there..geeesh
  7:49pm
LovecraftDude888:

i was hoping Levittown LI was fictional but it is still there, alas.

Lamin! Hooray

isn't there some goth club in Newark? Never been...a bit long in the tooth for that
Avatar 7:53pm

Heard about it, never been, don't know if it's still there. Might also be too long in tooth (late 30s).
  7:55pm

Ike...yeah I thought I read it was reopening recently, got a facelift. I'm older than that so....good Lord. Can't even imagine it...
  7:57pm

Rev. Rabbit must be like getting bizzee up there ..he's not around anymore! hehe you go Rabbit!
Avatar 7:59pm
Ike:

At least Paterson has an Arabic section w/a neat grocery, Fattal's, and good Lebanese restaurants. I wish Newark had some of those. Portuguese restaurants are the specialty here. Not really my bag.
  8:00pm
robyn:

Awesome stuff
  8:02pm
LovecraftDude888:

Paterson....hrmm yeah last I was there I vaguely recall some good ethnic restaurants of all diff. sorts. Dunkin donuts didn't count! Newark doesn't seem as intriguing...last I was there but was ages ago..and the airport does not count for sure
  8:06pm
Jonathan:

Lamin! Nice to hear you back here. I miss your shows! When will you get a slot of your own again? Hello from England.

Newark goths. Reminds me of Bay Ridge club kids. www.yelp.com...
  8:09pm
LovecraftDude888:

QXT yeah had heard of the place a good while ago, 2003 or so...meant to go..never got there. kind of phased out of the club world...minus gigs here and there.

Last time I cared about clubs was going to the Limelight back in the late 1980s.

Avatar 8:16pm

@BK, 91.1 is fine here, where are you? If you are near Flatbush or Paterson, you are probably getting interference from evil scumbag pirates at 90.9 FM.
  8:17pm
JakeGould:

Lovecraft, nobody gaffs because nobody can type when you are the only one dominating comments.
  8:17pm

yeah Filth and the Fury a must-see

@Ike: there are pirates broadcasting from Flatbush at 90.9? What kind of content do they broadcast? Or: are you @JustJoking?

There are lots of pirate radio stations in NYC. And in Flatbush.

JakeGould:

There’s some noise on WFMU but it ain’t on the airwaves.
  8:32pm
P-90:

@fleep love ya Babe, never change!

@Ike: I see web items now, a 24-hr gospel station in Queens was shut down by the Feds and owners fined. Seems to be a lot of stations cued to local immigrant communities, so Haitian Creole fits the pattern. You'd think they'd know not to over-modulate when sending on a frequency adjacent to a licensed station, attracting attention to their nefarious doings
  8:33pm
LovecraftDude888:

all I recall of 1998 is hearing Horse and Carriage Cam'ron on the cabbies radios all day and night long. prob some morons sitting at Pratt in their dorm with nothing better to du

ha reading about the Caribb. station shutdown...the "harsher FCC penalties" entail being strapped to chair for 1 year and forced to listen to Z100 24-7

...it's the Parrot Show on the Pirate Station drives me *particularly* bonkers, though...altho' the Parrot is quite tolerant of compulsive Commenting...
Avatar 8:40pm

@BK, 91.1 was good for me today in Clifton, Montclair, Nutley, etc. So IDK. East Village can be tricky, people often complain. Bad geography for FM there.
  8:40pm
P-90:

JakeG: careful Dude, you're overmodulatiing, don't hurt yourself
  8:41pm

I keep on sending them pieces of 8 but they don’t seem to solve their noise problems.

Think of it this way: everything that gets typed winds up on an FMU archive server, forever. So the more you type, the more storage you require. So you better pay up big come Marathon, or taper down a bit.
