Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Favoriting May 22, 2014: Street Interviews with PACE U Grads/Music --- A Story "Kiss You By A Tree" - C. Pigeon

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

Artist Track Album Label Year Format Comments Approx. start time

INTRO
that's new age from Checkfield in the background ... love it ... no irony ...i love its gentleness

Talking with PACE Graduates at Madison Square Garden
I was attempting to mix pre-recorded interview segments with live DJ'ing (talking and playing records) --- The interviews were all on one cassette with six-seconds of space between them. It's tough to wrangle a dual cassette deck that way and records and talking. Fun though. I like the danger of flopping and dead air, boith of which you'll hear this hour.

LIVE In the Studio
I don't know if you know this but I am scared sh----ss when I first go on mic alone. Every time. It's fun, but I wish I could be relaxed ... that comes later. It's probably that way with most of the FMU joxx.

that background music was by Glenn Scott "SYLK130" on Giant Steps rex.

An Interview with Zan at MSG - a PACE graduate from China

Here's a beautiful song sung by Mr. Vale ... always remember ...

"KIss You By A Tree" an improv by Clay Pigeon
I hope you enjoyed this story. I really had fun recording it. I made this one up as I laid (lay) on my davenport a couple of Saturday nights ago - blown out from a 3-hour drive home from Deleware County. This actually isn't a "new" character as some suggested ... he was originally "Snakey" from Dusty Show Xmas 2009: http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/34133

It's 12:40am Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 as I am writing this. I hope you are happy and doing well in your life. Keep tuning in, my friend, and stay with me as the years unfold ... CP NYC

Avatar 6:07pm
Cecile:

My graduation consisted of me giving flowers to all my friends, and after the ceremony was over, I literally ran out of the auditorium. Couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Then I went to my own quiet graduation open house, and my friends, and then some other friends came over and we went to see the China Syndrome. Then we were up until 2:00 talking.

the next day I went to a picnic, and ended up meeting my first boyfriend.

The Chinese still remember Nixon as their friend. There being no Democratic equivalent to Nixon, they'll tend to favor the Republicans.
  6:11pm
Robert:

We think of him as Tricky Dick, they think of him as the one who got them some respect here.
Avatar 6:12pm
Night Owl:

I didn't find out until the day of graduation that my art teacher was going to let me pass her class and graduate. I had to drive to the high school for something and then straight to the Bayfront Center to graduate with my class. I had tennis shoes on. My mom, sister, and step-father drove from Detroit to surprise me. I hadn't seen or talked to her in 2 years since they kicked me out to go live my dads sister in Florida.
Avatar 6:12pm

I don't remember my HS graduation. I was older than everyone else in college, because I went into the military first (after slumming around in the UK). So no graduation ceremonies there, either.

I went back to Community College when I was 37 and got an AA in Computer Programming, 4.0 GPA. They combined the 2 GPA's which gave me a 3.3 GPA overall if I remember correctly. They put a 'Cum Laude' on my second diploma. Mom was proud finally. I might as well wipe my ass with those 2 diplomas.
