Live Performance by Emma Tricca with Jason Victor

With an early push from the likes of John Renbourne and Odetta, Emma Tricca dove deeply into the pool of 70s folkies from Italy and England, where she was born and grew up. Tricca's pretty, unadorned music shows a reaction to all her travels and family life with scientists and artists. Emma Tricca's latest album is "Relic," and she dropped by WFMU with guitarist Jason Victor to play some of her beautiful tunes.

I met her here a few years ago when she was campaigning with Senator Leahy for the removal of the land mines overseas. Very powerful presence. Have a signed photo of her & I together.

Hi Irene. Funny, you played most of musical youth: Haslam, Fahey, etc ...

*my* musical youth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
Irene Trudel:

Carm, this is a lot of my musical youth as well! KP, definitely a fave of mine. Wore out several copies of Ashes are Burning on vinyl.

I still hug my copy of Davey Graham's Hat.

Thank you Irene. You didn't forget me. I will bequeath records to you one day. Not yet and hopefully not for a long while, but someday.
  11:10pm
Carmichael:

Absolutely. You can't listen to Fahey without at least considering Graham, Renbourn and Bert Jansch.
  11:12pm
Carmichael:

Irene, that album of ragas, blues and whatever is incredible. Transcendental ...
Avatar 11:16pm
gongoleer:

Davey may well have been my first intro to virtuoso inventive guitar playing. Even more so than Sandy Bull or others of that era. He really blew me away and likely influenced my polyrhythmic sensibilities.
@carmichael, Let us not forget Don Bikoff amidst Fahey, Renbourn, Jansch, and slew of others.

Jane Relf tried to cash in on Renaissance success in the late 70's with a band called Illusion and the album was called Candles are
Burning. I think Keith Relf was still alive at the time. I had the record decades ago but it is long gone.

Irene, Thanks for your Feb. 24 show, especially 'Colombe' by Judy Collins, one of the most passionate antiwar songs, from one of the great 1960s albums, one of my faves, 'In My Life.'
