Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from March 6, 2015 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I met Xenakis in music school as a child! My teacher pulled me over to introduce me to him! He said Lemon Juice, "This is the great Xenakis"! I just starred at him! He was also an architect. Only one eye, lost the other in a sword fight! Very interesting person!

jesse in illinois:

I am really enjoying this Xenakis piece! Well it is done now... but it was entrancing data entry music.
Avatar 1:00pm

I thought I hadn't heard that Xenakis piece before, but then I realized I have this album.

Very cool, Lemon Juice! I thought Xenakis got disfigured from a grenade attack when he fought w/ partisans during WWII, I could be wrong.
Avatar 1:03pm
Bryce:

data entry's the best for music-listenin! (am i right, ike?)

Lemon Juice, that's amazing! i saw him at a post concert talk thing around here, and he fielded audience questions. the questions were things like, "so.....how do you come up with your ideas?" "do you like things because they're weird?" he was very graceful about it all!

You might be right about the grenade.. It might have been after a sword fight... It was a long time ago : ) I was always amazed at how his scores looked visually! Not trying to boasts but I used to hang with John Cage! I like the graphic aspect of Xenakis's sculptural buildings also... Bryce great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm

Lemon Juice thanks for saying this! I have always loved Xenakis' music. but never looked at the scores -- google image for Xenakis scores has blown my mind!

I wonder if this bagpipe music is achieved digitally in sections through lots of looping or if it is performed at one time. Fantastic. Great show, Bryce. Good luck during the upcoming Marathon. FMU is lucky to have you.

thx, cp! :)

mr. watson's a local around these parts, and i've seen him perform things like this with multiple bagpipep players — spread out in space, even! one performance was in a sort of corporate office complex, and he led the audience down corridors and throughout the building. really lovely in person!

I might go so far as to say that Folke Rabe's Was?? is the most wonderful thing ever created by the human race except that I'm not sure he didn't simply channel it from an alien race. I hear new things every single time I listen to it and I've listened to it many hundreds of times, no exaggeration.
